I participated in a few of these feed exchanges on blog promotion. Mostly as an experiment, because I've never used feedburner and subscription was not something I even knew how to keep track of.

I found it interesting. When I signed up with feedburner it listed me as having 7 subscribers. Then I subscribed to about 14 or so fellow blogcatalogers (through the shameless feed me plugs, etc) here and I *think* 7 reciprocated - because my number shot up to 14. That lasted one day, as today it's back down to 7.

Is Feedburner having an error or problem of some kind? Or, more likely those that exchanged just removed theirs? Mostly curious, because I haven't quite figured out how this works or its relevance.

Here's my information:

The Feedburner count is always fluctuating. It happens when Feedburner fails to get accurate numbers from different services like Google reader, Bloglines, etc. I'm sure the number of your subscribers will be back to normal in a day or so.

      And I likewise, thank you

I was just wondering how this worked, it seemed relatvely arbitrary.

I have about 14 a day but sometimes it goes up to 20 or so or down to 5. I wish it worked regular insted of daily. I want to see 28000 like at probloggers man they are asskickers.

I agree with Brown Baron. The number seems to be ever changing each day.

I think feedburner numbers are crazy. As of today I have 1073 subscribers!!! It can't be that many!

sinnfeiner, I noticed an increase of 10 a few days after we started that last thread and then it dropped 13 and then up 7.
I think feedburner's site says Yahoo! reports numbers monthly and with others like GoogleReader they don't count if for the following day if users aren't on line or don't view the feeder. I typically notice a drop over the weekend.
I've subscribed to all on the other thread and hope others are doing the same. www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/lets-feed-each-other

Sinnfeiner, feedburner will only display the number of subscribers that are actually subscribed to your feed on any given day. That's to say if someone doesn't open their feed reader or they have their computer off then it's not counted. That's usually why it fluctuates so much.

Feedburner has been acting up for several days. It is not updating the amount of hits I get in a day, although it seems to be keeping track of my subscriptions.

Feedburner will report different numbers for different days. It's normal and natural to see a flux of up to 10-20% on any given day, depending on your numbers. The more subs you have, the lower the percentage will be.

Yeah, but I subscribe myself, and it hasn't even been picking up that for the past week.
