There are these theories floating everywhere reg 9/11, etc. So let me also float a theory - the theory of financial meltdown conspiracy
After taking big stakes in Iraq re-construction, US govt tastes blood and calls some major bank CEO's and says it's gonna get it now. Then what happens is Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac report trouble. And later help arrives from other big insurance co (I forgot the name) and suddenly all declare they are in trouble as well.
Now Govt has picked up good amount of stocks at rock bottom prices. The system will be allowed to announce 'recovery' and Presto! US is financially stable again and washed off all its debts
