I am in the scuba diving business and I ALWAYS look forward to the first day of spring. It signals the beginning of a new year for this great sport. Anyone else look forward to this day?

First day of spring and it's snowing here.
    How awesome?

Well the first day of spring doesn't mean as much to us South Floridians as it does to divers in the other parts of the country, but it does signify the start of water temps beginning to rise. Water here has been in the low 70s lately (i'm sure still much better than everywhere else!) and most of the locals are waiting for temps to climb back to the high 70s/low 80s - except for me as I have an Underwater Video business which runs regardless of the weather, and also am a Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Dive Guide.

Still, it would be nice to ditch my 5/4mm wetsuit and 2.5mm hooded vest and just dive in my swimsuit again....

Do you really just dive in your swimsuit? I mean, especially while working? I live in Hawaii, and regardless of the season or water temp, wear a full wetsuit all year round while diving. (Lighter weight in summer, of course, but still a full suit.)

We do this for protection, as well as warmth.

Well, to be honest I really only dove in my swimsuit twice and i was also wearing a t-shirt at the time. Just wanted to see what it was like and Hey the water WAS warm enough! Normally it's a full wetsuit year round here too more so for protection due to all the wreck diving I do. Buoyancy is one thing, but occasionally there are factors that come into play that make the protection worth it.
