Is choosing to wear or not wear an American flag pin an important campaign issue? What's your opinion?

The fate of the world hanging on a . . . pin. I'm too embarrassed to talk about this dirty family secret in a forum where non-Americans can read about it.

If I saw a candidate wearing one - upside down - I might take interest

    not important.

seriously, WTF is everyone getting so het up about a freaking pin for? i'd rather have someone who can pronounce words like nuclear than someone who's master the technology of the lapel pin (or hired someone to put it on all attire for him...).

You're old enough to remember how the first Bush made an issue of flag burning in his successful campaign against Dukakis, right? Of course, there were other things going on too, including Dukakis in a tank and Willy Horton.

i thought it was all stupid then. actually, i've never been one for empty outward symbols whether patriotic, religious, corporate, or what have you.

I thought it was all stupid then too. But let's talk about parts of the electorate.

How bizarre, but I guess that's American politics if you don't drape yourself in the flag, Promise to bomb brown people and claim a personal relationship with god you are somehow unelectable.

Personally I only vote for people that wear boxers
    1. RuinousRight
      American flag boxers?

I think that French cuffs are far more important than lapel pins. In fact, double-breasted versus single-breasted suits is more important. If a candidate can't work hard enough to get cuff links and hidden buttons then I can't be bothered to vote for him or her.

Also, spats. If a candidate appeared in spats, my heart and vote would be won.
