I came across a very interesting article about outsourcing being on the rise and a boost in freelance jobs. That is great news for some and not so great news for others.
What does this mean for companies and in-house employees? For freelancers, just how competitive is it going to get out there? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

I am betting that the market for freelancers is going to get cut throat - and with the Asian countries supplying low-end - low quality work - but at a low end price - it is even worse!

Hey Kelly and Benny--I thought part of Obama's plan was to give tax breaks for companies that don't outsource their work. I'm not positive on this but I thought I remembered hearing something along those lines.

The article says "We concluded that higher satisfaction rates are helping U.S. workers gain ground against the often cheaper competition overseas." AND "The good news, though, is that there there is more freelance work than ever, and the smart, skilled freelancer is well-positioned to thrive." which is all positive. BUT, do you really see this as accurate?

I hope it is accurate - I know that recently I have seen people opt for the low-en work and hope for the best - in a tight economy - going the low-end route is often easy - and usually unwise...
You get what you pay for - unless you are just looking for filler - You need to pay the quality worker their wage if you want quality work...

The companies would have more money to hire people if they didn't take it all for themselves and their croonies working with them.
These guys are getting paid $ millions that run the company while the stock price of the company sinks. Investors lose all the money while the guy running the company has six homes. This is criminal.
I didn't vote for Obama, but if he is about change do something about this robbery we put up with every day in the stock markets. -
