Technical Analysis vs Fundamental Analysis: which should you prefer ?

You will have many people explain to you that you should use both Technical Analysis and Fundamental Analysis - and that is a good advice if you are capable or have time to do both exercices. But if you should only use one method over the other in trading, it should be Technical Analysis. Indeed many traders don't care at all about Fundamental Analysis.

In fact fundamental analysis can even be dangerous for your trading life, for this is what happened to one of the most reputed economist of all time: John Maynard Keynes who almost went bankrupt while speculating against the German mark ... on the margin (huge leverage reserved to speculators !) The story was revealed by Kenneth Galbraith - a contemporary of Keynes and Economist advisor of John Kennedy - who wrote this in his book "Money: Whence It Came, Where It Went":

    Fundamentals always come in second to technical analysis
