Topics: funny movies
With all this religious humor going on .. probably in response to Christmas and Passover - both rather serious events - I want to watch a funny movie and not moderate these discussions.
Any good recommendations?

S'good! Luckily I was wearing goggles, and I'm quick, even under a car. I've been a little smelly for a few days, but otherwise unharmed. (it's all varnish-y YUCK)
Stupid lines - we were trying to blow them out...thinking they were filled with solid varnish, I disassembled the rear return fuel line from the steel lines.....where it was NOT plugged up.
Ooops.
The good news is, the lines are all clear, the bad news is, the fuel pump broke again

A few of my favorites, all "feel good"
1. Groundhog Day ("A god, yes, but not THE God!") - Bill Murray and Harold Ramis' best
2. Parenthood - based on Ron Howard, & the producer and authors kids, inspired by Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters
3. Hannah and Her Sisters - one big wacky family, Diane Wiest & her date w Woody is a scream, won an Oscar, as did Michael Caine; Mia's mother Maureen Sullivan played her mom
4. Raising Arizona - the Coen Bros best and funniest film ("Boy, did you know you got a panty on yer head?")
5. Babe - best kids film, best animal film, genuinely inventive and heartwarming ("I hear that if you don't do something useful the humans eat you"- the Duck)
6. Duck Soup - Marx Bros best, total insanity ("On second thought, I'll stay with the cows til you come home") - this one has the incredible "mirror scene", all done in one take with silent counts.. (Groucho and Harpo)
7. Dr. Strangelove - one of the best films and comedies of all time! Peter Sellers in 3 roles ("You can't fight in here, this is the war room!", "..and of course the females will be selected for their breeding characteristics, and a healthy ratio to men of, say,..ten to one?") - well, ok, one 'black comedy' in the group, but it's SO good!
These are not only good comedies, but great films overall.. top 100 quality stuff!

...the Jman... ("got my I on films")
ps - just to get my personal taste: only Mel Brooks film I like is The Producers (the Zero Mostel one); and I don't like any Monty Python (too silly), I much preferred Cleese in Fawlty Towers on BBC. Hate the Stooges, and think Chaplin vastly overrated - "if you've seen one.." - Buster Keaton was the silent genius; watch "The General" sometime.. -
Definitely there's something about mary.Me myself and Irene,Happy Gilmore,Airheads,School of Rock..
and you should see foreign movies as well..like Sex is zero from Korea,
Kungfu Hustle from Hong Kong and all movies from Stephen Chow.i think you have to see outside movies as well and than we can compare it. -
Fifth Element .. (always considered that one a comedy :D)
We're sending in the negotiator ...
*PoW* ...
Where did he learn to negotiate like that?

Young Frankenstein
The Red Dwarf series
The Man with Two Brains
Rat Race
The Court Jester (Danny Kaye - actually, just about any of his)-
New episodes?! Where? How can I see them?! (Actually, hubby and I are watching the old ones on Netflix and we've still got three seasons to go. I didn't know it was still being made.)
As soon as I find a smiley for the middle finger, I'll respond to Anin. I'll second the Princess Bride recommendation, and fourth or fifth the one for Kung Fu Hustle, as well. I'll throw in Heathers, if Red Dwarf is so offensive to donkehs.
