With all this religious humor going on .. probably in response to Christmas and Passover - both rather serious events - I want to watch a funny movie and not moderate these discussions.

Any good recommendations?

What kind of humour do you like? does it have to be reasonably tasteful?
    1. TonyB
      Any kind of humour.

    The Pink Panther.
    1. TonyB
      Pink Panther is great.
    2. codesucker
yes, I second that notion. I heard they are making another
  3. codesucker
Pineapple express had me rolling on the floor.
  4. Sam1982
Superbad, or step brothers were good ones.
    1. codesucker
      haha yes! Superbad rocked!

Step brothers let me down. Will Farrel is supposed to be a legend
    2. Sam1982
I thought he was really good - the sleep walking scene was hilarious.
    3. codesucker
YES YES YES This is the one scene that saved the entire movie. LOL thanks for reminding me
    4. crpitt
Never heard of step brothers? When did it come out?
  5. kat822

Tropic Thunder! I've seen it 5 times. I still love it every time.
    1. TonyB
you want to watch it again
    2. Sam1982
I must say - I didnt get tropic thunder. But each to their own
  7. chicky401
I really like Adam Sandler so I think I have to go with Anger Management Funny movie! Of course Happy Gilmore is funny too.
  8. TonyB
    Pineapple Express v. Superbad?
    1. Sam1982
Both are good - pretty much the same actors in both, pineapple express is funnier if you know about canabis smoking, superbad is funnier if you relate to that time as a kid and you wanted to have sex badly
    2. TonyB
and if you relate to both?
    3. codesucker
Sam is so right. If you know about/like pot smoking, then Pineapple express is perfect. Otherwise - superbad is the choice.

Sam you are quite the movie buff, is that what you blog about?

OK If you relate to both - Superbad

Now go watch a movie already!
    4. TonyB
thanks guys...Im going to watch both!
    5. Sam1982
Movies are just another one of my hobbies - My blog is just a semi-fictional horror story that I'm telling.

    What? No Monty Python?

It's scientific experiments for the lot of you!!
    1. TonyB
Good point.. Im waiting for them to download so may have to include a Monty Python movie to the list. No sleep tonight.
    2. Anok
Tony, did you get into the flea bath mix again?
    3. TonyB
It's been bad. Flees are kicking my ass this year.
    4. Anok
I'll send you my extra special flea ass-kickin' mix. Guaranteed to work, or your money back. Well, I don't actually charge so... Uhm...yeah.

      Cookies?

    6. Anok
      Naughty! But...OK
    7. TonyB
      have you clipped your nails?
    8. Anok
Yes, but they are dirty...filthy. Gots motor oil on them.

(Actually I was unhappily doused in gasoline last Sunday when a fuel line exploded on my head.... but that's a long story)
    9. TonyB
Forget the finger nails how's your head?
    10. Anok
S'good! Luckily I was wearing goggles, and I'm quick, even under a car. I've been a little smelly for a few days, but otherwise unharmed. (it's all varnish-y YUCK)

Stupid lines - we were trying to blow them out...thinking they were filled with solid varnish, I disassembled the rear return fuel line from the steel lines.....where it was NOT plugged up.

      Ooops.

The good news is, the lines are all clear, the bad news is, the fuel pump broke again
    11. TonyB
do you have someone else to blow next time?
    12. Anok
      Wait...is that a euphemism?

Heh - this car is my specialty, and plus I'm the only one small enough to safely crawl under the car to work...(we don't have a big garage with a lift or anything)
    13. TonyB
it might very well be especially in tight spots
    14. Anok
OH! The dog is on tonight!
    15. TonyB
after all, a dog is a dog
    16. Anok
It's good to see you poking around and commenting ♥
    17. TonyB
      might that be a euphemism?
    18. Anok

A few of my favorites, all "feel good"
    1. Groundhog Day ("A god, yes, but not THE God!") - Bill Murray and Harold Ramis' best
    2. Parenthood - based on Ron Howard, & the producer and authors kids, inspired by Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters
    3. Hannah and Her Sisters - one big wacky family, Diane Wiest & her date w Woody is a scream, won an Oscar, as did Michael Caine; Mia's mother Maureen Sullivan played her mom
    4. Raising Arizona - the Coen Bros best and funniest film ("Boy, did you know you got a panty on yer head?")
    5. Babe - best kids film, best animal film, genuinely inventive and heartwarming ("I hear that if you don't do something useful the humans eat you"- the Duck)
    6. Duck Soup - Marx Bros best, total insanity ("On second thought, I'll stay with the cows til you come home") - this one has the incredible "mirror scene", all done in one take with silent counts.. (Groucho and Harpo)
    7. Dr. Strangelove - one of the best films and comedies of all time! Peter Sellers in 3 roles ("You can't fight in here, this is the war room!", "..and of course the females will be selected for their breeding characteristics, and a healthy ratio to men of, say,..ten to one?") - well, ok, one 'black comedy' in the group, but it's SO good!

These are not only good comedies, but great films overall.. top 100 quality stuff!

    1000greatfilms.blogspot.com

...the Jman... ("got my I on films")

ps - just to get my personal taste: only Mel Brooks film I like is The Producers (the Zero Mostel one); and I don't like any Monty Python (too silly), I much preferred Cleese in Fawlty Towers on BBC. Hate the Stooges, and think Chaplin vastly overrated - "if you've seen one.." - Buster Keaton was the silent genius; watch "The General" sometime..
  14. pandanartrepublic

      Jeebus! Some people!
    2. crpitt
Did you know Red Dwarf has new episodes starting tomorrow!
    3. legbamel
New episodes?! Where? How can I see them?! (Actually, hubby and I are watching the old ones on Netflix and we've still got three seasons to go. I didn't know it was still being made.)

As soon as I find a smiley for the middle finger, I'll respond to Anin. I'll second the Princess Bride recommendation, and fourth or fifth the one for Kung Fu Hustle, as well. I'll throw in Heathers, if Red Dwarf is so offensive to donkehs.
    4. aningeniousname
Those will be crap I think. You can't go back and recreate it, they should have just left it.
