I believe that future space travel will be as energy.

So forget building the spacecraft to replace the shuttle and lets concentrate on electromagnetic energy and radio waves.

For more really serious ideas, well I think so, try out www.weirdwarp.com or am I a little cuckoo?

Well, I don't personally think that we are to the point yet where we can discard the "craft" in favor of energy-beingness, but I think in terms of propulsion there has been a lot of talk, from what I am aware, of using "sails" to catch solar wind. But this sort of thing requires launching from space, and you still need to get out of Earth's gravitational pull. So rocketry may not yet be a thing of the past for space travel.

yes I suppose that would be a way of using energy but it would be nice if we could turn into energy, sort of a teleport device.

I was under the impression that sails would just be too inefficient to get to the planets and would be used for star travel (it takes too long to build up a decent speed).

We are trapped into a vehicular mindset therefore the talk of solar sails

However, when nanotechnology matures enough scientists might be ready to drop those sails

Or who knows? They might find some other way? We do need a way to travel many times the speed of light to get anywhere at all in this universe and rockets and sails just won't cut it
