Hmm Shameless blog promotion? Here goes!
[Geeks Are Sexy] has been up and running since April 2005. Originally, we were hosted on a free blogspot account, but the site soon became too big to be effectively managed and exploited on the blogger platform. The [GAS] team then decided that it would be better to move everything to a more serious blogging solution (Wordpress) on a paid hosting service.
The mission of [GAS] is simple: Providing up to the minute technology news, reviews and tutorials to our esteemed readership.

Most of my wife's family is from there, and I actually lived in St-Hubert for a year... It was a pretty nightmarish experience...

Nice Blog. I'll repeat ChurchOfIntegrity's question. How did the move go? Any gotchas that other people should know or watch out for? -
here goes..
1 -Register your domain.. (GoDaddy is a good place to start, cheap too!)
2- find a good hosting company... if you guys are in need of a reliable hosting service provider, I can get you some incredible deals at dreamhost!
3- point your new domain to your hosting company's name server
4- use the 1 click wordpress install.. (yeah, it's as easy as that)
5- find a theme / plugins that you want to run on your blog
6- customize your blog's look and feel.
7- start blogging
Voilà!-
that's it, as simple, fast and easy as that!
Then when your blogs gets 700 000 unique visitors per month and you have 25K rss subscribers, you'll probably wanna have a custom theme -
Thanks for the info Kiltak. But how did it go transferring your readers to the new url? I bet you had many sites linking to your old one, was it easy to get people to point to your new one? Did the move affect your PR?

I simply posted a blog entry saying that the blog has moved... as for the RSS feed, I was using feedburner, so I simply switched the feed source from the old blogspot one to the wordpress one, and everything was transparent to my subscribers... they kept using the same feed!
As for the PR, I have to build it back up...According to google's server, I should be at 4 after the next update.. not bad for a 2 months old blog..
[GAS] 1.0 has a PR of 6...
