People born from mid 60's to late 70's are the generations X, therefore the music we listened to in the 80's and 90's is the music of generation X. Yes, it includes all the big-haired 80's bands!!!

Generation X, commonly abbreviated to Gen X, is a term used to refer to the generation born after the baby boom ended, extending from the early 1960s to mid 1970s. The term Generation X has been used in demography, the social sciences, and marketing, though it is most often used in popular culture.

    From Wikipedia!
