hey steafan, it appears that you may have a bug in your blog somewhere, maybe a very simple thing. But both times I posted, it redirects me back to the comment area, and when I try again it says "Duplicate" comment, You already published this comment" as if it did take it somewhere. Anyway, just a heads up. Cool topics for sure, I'll revisit it.

I'd like to say I'd reciprocate but its often painful if the commenter's blog is terrible or of no interest to me. That's why, when I start threads to get comments I put my niche in the title, thus even though I get less comments then, they are more likely to actually want to comment on my posts... and I am more likely to actually want to reciprocate.

Well I wouldn't want 10 "boiler plate" comments that aren't related to the topic nor the simple "wow that's great advice, nice blog" comments. One is enough of those. However if they are comments that shared some insight to the topic being discussed then sure, I'd consider it unless a persons blog was about one thing only. With our blog, we have several topics, travel, music, politics, golden globes, movies, etc offering more variety than what what most individual's blogs offer, since alot of people blog about their one or 2 main interests in life.

@ sensico Initially, my interest in exchanging comments is to create awareness about our blog, get some links and hopefully get people that want to share and create new discussions for our community readers. After awhile though, if you are seeing the same types of comments on every topic, no matter what the topic is... it becomes graffiti on a wall and will turn people away. Your point (or question) is valid. It should be about people contributing to the conversation or topic and I have to admit, overall I'm not seeing that with this approach, which doesn't mean there's no value in it for a new blog, especially with us since we are a social networking community "with a blog".

lol, I saw your comment on our travel post. The keyword there is "budget". Not top destinations, but top destinations on a budget, which is still hilarious. My sister posted that and I thought, "Kansas City, Missouri"? I told her, well heck St.Louis is the murder capital of the country, they probably have some "Killer" deals there. lol Oh well, she's my big sister, what am I gonna do?
