I'm trying to get people to subscribe to my feed because my blog is of funny pictures I make and if they like it, they could get them everyday if they subscribed.
Do you have any tactics to get more subscribers? The number I have is low and fluctuates everyday. I have a few buttons on my site and a link at the top that says 'click here to be updated everytime a new picture is added' hoping it would get me more people. No luck. And I get from 100-500 visitors a day, which isn't tons but ok I guess. There was even one day when I got 10,000 when my blog was featured on deadspin.

Well it's all about credibility. People won't just subscribe if they don't know you. The best thing to get people subscribing is create a contest. A lot of people are doing this lately, and it's been great from what I hear. Additionally, you can also submit your site to a lot of rss feeds. I hope this helps.
I like your site BTW. I think it's hilarious. Keep those pictures coming. -
What are you guys seeing on average in terms of subscribers? I just newly have the RSS feed capability for my blog (in spite of blogging for quite a while) so really have no benchmarks.
I have, say, five on average daily so far. Which is amusing to me. -
Maybe put a RSS butten further up?
On wordpress there is a nice plugin where new visitors get a message about subscribing. www.richardkmiller.com/blog/wordpress-plugin-what-would-seth-godin-do/ -
I don't think I've ever subscribed to anyone's feed and have no idea how many have subscribed to mine. I just visit blogs the old fashioned way I guess.

I visited your page and while your RSS reminder is at the top of your page, it does not stand out that well. Most visitors will skip right over it.
I would run a test on its placement. Keep it there for a week and track results, then move it to another spot and track those results until you find the best spot.
My suggestion ... add the RSS reminder to display on each post, just above the time & tags. -

I once subscribed to Darren Rowse..The mailbox started getting flooded and I never cared to read them..Finally unsubscribed...

I subscribe to feeds consistantly. I read 20-30 blogs ... who has time to go visit them all every day, just to see if there's something new? With the RSS reader, I only visit the ones that have updated. Saves tons of time.
