To be honest, the recession hasn't really gotten that critical in respect to a lot of places in the UK anyway.

The main thing I would say is when grocery shopping but own brand products, they work out cheaper than the more popular brands. Oh and walk places instead of having to fork out god knows how much for petrol.

I think "not borrowing money from the banks" could be an idea. They will probably a large rate of interest and people could get more deeply into the crisis.

    My main suggestion is
"Produce things for free or cheaper"
Because the reason of recession is basicly that the productions doesn't match the costs. The miscalculating incomes of "virtual companies" (in real estate, software and other businesses) triggered the process. And their pumped balloon has bursted out at the last.
I know it sounds like crazy. But i believe that the shortest cut to overcome economic crisis is to balance costs and productions.
So unfortunately people should work for free.

Stock up on survivial foods in the pantry and plenty of bottled water. There's always a food shortage going on and prices are jumping sky high!

When shopping for groceries, have you tried the store brand. I've converted many of brands that I grew up on and find the store brand just as good. It's how you cook your food is the way it taste fabulous. If you can't cook, there's plenty of new recipes online to try out.

How about driving less than you need to? The exercise is good for you. Save on Gas. Don't let your tank get past 3/4 tank, re-fill and that saves you from having to pay more in the long run. I rather pay $10 than $40 anytime.

Keep up with oil changes or maintain the car which keeps the car repairs to a minimum.

Grow your own garden of fresh veggies. Organic is healthier for you anyways.

Thrift shops are a great place to find quality and or rare items that others didn't want anymore and doesn't mean they are ruined or broken. It's a business, the shops make sure that the merchandise works or looks good before they offer it to the public. They even offer sales themselves.

Pawn old broken gold. Gold has reached one thousand per ounce.

Garage sales are big in my town, get rid of stuff that is just sitting. I have boxes of stuff laying around. Waiting on Spring to unload my stuff, other peoples treasures. People love going through to see what you've got.

There are many possible ways to save, the list goes on...

As an economist, I would say being employed is the most important priority for the current environment. Additionally, one should always buy things at or lower than their marginal values.

pay as much as you can into your credit cards... they will be raising their rates to compensate for bad debt!

Keep your gold. Invest in gold if you can afford it. If this recession goes as bad as some are predicting then cash won't benefit you any. Keep your gold, those trying to give you money for it now know this and are trying to get it for themselves. ...don't be fooled.

Save the money you make instead of spending it on things we don't need.

    Grow your own garden.

    Get rid of debit asap.

Work hard at work to have job security. If you know your job is waivering start looking for another one now!

For more tips feel free to visit my website. I have freebies, coupons, money saving offers, and one recession proof job to share...enjoy!

    Good Luck everyone!
