I the Divine is both male and female and yet none, and in varying degrees. All aspects are interactive and balance one another. It's a Kabbalistic view.

It is also a view that growing up as a christian and learning in church I had but for some reason God is generally refered to as "he" I think because as people we need to personify God.

As in "anthropomorphose?" We don't need anthropomorphism to make God personal, even if represented in various aspects and personas.

As for "He," the default gender for English, as well as Greek and Hebrew is masculine.

Oh yeah he better be. Can't imagine a hermaphrodite God.

Why not? Many Kabbalists have conceived God as represented in the highest manifestation in Kether as being hermaphroditic.

    thanks for all feed back
before i had a poll for this on my old blog and do you know the result?
    65% for Woman
there was a question that why "she" was not set for "default" but "he"?
a hermaphroditic one is not good though.

Why not? If mankind is an expression of God, then the spectrum of gender...male, female, intersexed are all expressions thereof.

Unless, of course, you are of the opinion that intersexed people like me are innately of the devil as we have been taught from our earliest days by church people.

    Is god Hetro or homo??????

God loves us in an entirely non sexual way, so is neither.
Suppose most religions with more than one god don't have to deal with this issue

what makes you think a god cannot be either, both, or none?

I mean, if we are going to indulge in the fantasy of figuring out the characteristics of an imaginary omnipotent being, why restrict ourselves to human limitations? Can't an omnipotent being be anything at all? Gay/straight/bi/asexual/male/female/intersexed? Why can't an omnipotent being be all of those things...at once, even?

Look at the Greek and Roman gods: weren't there gods that had more than one face? that were half one creature and half another? That could appear as some other species and impregnate human woman in their guise? So, how do you determine what is possible for a god to do or be and what is not?

A little kitten being held and stroked is hardly concerned about the sex of the holder. Nor am I about whoever/whatever is enfolding me as I exist now.

      Haha... GOOD said Ralph!

God Perhaps Is A Asexual, So What Is Going To Change? I Will Rather Say, Let's First Confirm GOD's Existence, Rest Everything Will Be Automatically Answered! Hehe...

    Neither, sorry to dissapoint.

As pure Act, the First being as First being can be only a spiritual being, not a material being (a being composed of matter and form), for matter is eminently the seat of potency (Aristotle, Metaphysics, Lambda book, chap. 7.)
