Tonight I blogged on the benefits of wind power...

www.rightcommentary.com/2008/07/08/gone-with-the-wind-pickens-plan-for-amer...

My friend - T. Boone Pickens - has launched a national campaign to reform America's energy reliance... and basically he wants to build a bunch of windmills through the wind corridors of the US.

I am not sure if wind is the answer to all our energy needs - but it seems like a good idea. I saw them at GTMO, and they worked pretty well.

I think wind, solar, coal, gas, nuclear, and oil are going to be needed in some mix to sustain America's energy needs. While I fully support drill-here drill now... when someone like Pickens stands up and talk about Wind power being viable - that got my attention.

Hopefully it will get yours as well.

Wind is good, even if it might not solve everything. Won't cause asthma either, unlike coal.

Kills birds though. Lot's of them.

Darn downsides. No way to make it safer?

We can take the dead birds and burn them like coal. Problem solved.

Wind and solar have my vote, I still do not trust the nuke thing.

Well - if Boone is right and Wind could really free up that electricity demand....

it would mean a windfall for the US... I don't understand why the energy companies don't want that money... I donno - I'll have to ask him to flesh that part out about how all this works financially...

Wind power as a utility is not the answer... Windfarm Windmills are eyesores and only useful for small power consumption...The carbon footprint to make them on a large scale might be better spent on other projects...

A better application for windpower is windmills for individual households coupled with solar panel roof shingles that would fit into the household's electricity grid....

Win,lose or draw T.Boone Pickens alway seems to make money...It should be interesting...

What about the ocean tides and currents...could they be used turn hyro electric turbines ?

My understanding is that most hydro-electric sources are already maximum utilized... but I could be wrong.

We have wind farms here in Colorado. It's not going to solve our energy problems but it definitely helps.

I'm not so much saying Wind is the answer. What I am alarmed about is that we don't have a comprehensive plan to deal with the long-term energy demands of the United States. We need to drill, we need to explore alternative energy, we need to know how we're going to get from now to 30 years from now with energy growth doubling 5 times during that time frame.

That's what I see as the real clarion call here...

My dog used to have a wind problem, if you gave him a bone he could strip the paint off the walls. woof

Wind power? Nothing a good curry won't cure!

They are becoming an eyesore in the UK and its yet to be harnassed in dubai - the wind power, not the curry...
