Is that why Google and Yahoo took to twitter so enthusiastically just last month?

There were rumors of Google wanting to buy Twitter.. Bad taste from a bad bid?

I actually think now twitter is not that good, there is a bunch of spammers. It only gives 10 visits for a blog article, earlier it used to give me 50+

I am confused.. how does the spam affect you? If you get spam tweets, you voluntarily agreed to be treated to the spam by following them

You know you don't have to follow everyone that follows you, you don't have to follow any of the spammers and you get to look at someone profile before you choose to follow them....

Google's CEO is merely ahead of the curve. Twitter is soooo 2008.

      what's the thing for 2009?

He's just mad that he didn't think of it.

well, twitter may be used by everyone, but it's not going to be a very easy thing to monetize. Google's CEO Eric Schmidt has six and a half billion dollars already, so I don't think he's too jealous.

Great wealth allows one to speak very frankly.

This seems a legitimate assessment of the tool. I am stopping twitting lately as I feel that it is lacking the fun of blogging but speaking to a hollow space

Of course it's a waste of time, what google had to tell you that?

lol ... Are you trying to start a war or what?
I've twice almost deleted my account and I verging on doing so again.

Sounds like Google is feeling threatened by Twitter. Twitter is what you make it, for me it's been a really good marketing and networking tool.

I'm happy to hear that because I'm a fan of your photoblog. But as I don't market anything and don't want to spend much time on twitter networking in 140 character tweets, twitter doesn't do much for me.
    2. becthomasphotograp
Ah well it isn't going to work for everybody, nothing ever does!

Exactly. I'm not putting twitter down, as you said above "Twitter is what you make it,"

You get out of it what you put into it. I don't put much into it and I don't get off on reading a lot of the stuff that's tweeted. On one hand, I have no interest in broadcasting 140 characters of blah, blah, blah into the morass of un-targeted cacophony. For me the NOISE to sound ratio is far too high to bother with it much at all.

I find Twitter a delightful place to send out 140 characters into cyber space. Not only can it open doors, it allows one to voice their opinions to no one in particular. There is an art and a challenge which for wordsmiths is like laying down the proverbial gauntlet. Why not have a bit of fun, make some friends and remind them of or introduce them to the joys of BlogCatalog.com. It is only a waste of time if you have nothing of import to share. Otherwise, I consider it a win - win situation.

I also don't get twitter. I have an account but never really use it. I follow all different groups of people and must admit, it seems a total waste of time.

On the business side...Twitter is having the same problem, maybe more so, that most "social networking" sites have: HARD TO MAKE MONEY....Google might buy twitter if it were cheap, but they already have utube which is a great place...BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE MONEY WITH IT.

I think utube is much better than twitter. I have never had a facebook or myspace account. I seem to be doing ok. I think they are also in a financially negative status for their respective owners.

I get it. The public is no longer watching commercials on TV or listening to them on radios, or reading advertisements in print media venues, as we did previously. Desperation prevails for those who are marketing stuff because they need to connect with potential clients and customers.

twitter is a service that appeals to those who like the challenge of creating 140 character advertisements AKA commercials (like sound bites) directed to potential clients, customers or employees. It's also a service that allows business people to connect with other business associates and suppliers erc. It provides a means of immediate information exchange and updating.

To the marketing industry twitter is a very useful tool with a HUGE broadcast range and social networks are being invaded by them as well for the same reasons. The entire social media sphere is full of with people marketing stuff. Internet marketers have transformed Facebook and some have even been banned for spamming walls. It's more difficult to spam when 140 characters is the limit, but once one gets the knack of it the broadcast range is HUGE.

Google has led to more wasted time than any service on the web. I think they're trying to deflect attention. That said, my response to the title of this thread was, "Duh."
