Hi all

Anyone found any great freeware recently?

I just found a great Firefox extension that makes it dead easy to fill in online froms (applications to blog directories, ad networs etc :-)

"InFormEnter adds a small, clickable icon next to every input field in a web form, from where you can select the item to be inserted - no typing required. You can configure it to display your frequently used information such as name, email, address..."

Really, if you've got Firefox and you have to fill in as many forms as I find myself doing, you've got to try it! (and no I'm not a rep for them, its just Soooo handy!)

You can read more and get it here:

addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/673

Anyone got any other cool freeware tips?...

For me, the best freeware I have EVER found is a utility called Windows PowerPro. It is a Swiss Army Knife: program launcher, clipboard manager, sticky notes, keyboard macros, alarms, wallpaper changer, mp3 player, and more... (AND a small memory footprint).

I don't start my computer without it. I have used it for more than 12 years now, and like it more each year. Originally, it was a shareware utility, now it is free. The author is great, helpful, and has continued to upgrade it through 2007. (and no, the author isn't me or a friend of mine. )

Warning: its startup configuration is weak and doesn't do justice to the versatility of the program. If you are a computer novice, you may not like it.

BUT... if you are willing to learn... or if you are a "power user"... or if you just like playing with your computer to make it jump through your own hoops ... you can make this program really sing.

If you want to know about configuring it, write me or join the Yahoo Group.

Your question was... did you find anything recently? Well, this isn't a recent find, but it is a tool that I find new uses for all the time.

lol oh yeah, you can get the program at

    powerpro.webeddie.com/

It isn't a pretty site, but it isn't there to be pretty. The author isn't doing this to make money.

Does it run on Vista? I'm going to try it on my Win98 and XP machines. I love stuff like that.

I downloaded a trial of PowerDesk about 12 years ago and still use it on my Win98 machines. And every computer I have gets loaded with Irfanview and EditPad.

@scorpy01 - Irfanview is awesome, I can't belive you can get such good software free sometimes

Anyone use AutoHotkey? - thats another program I just keep going back to again and again

The latest that i found was for books cataloging services like LibraryThing.com. Especially handy in cataloging the vast numbers of books in my collection. There are also other freebies, from desktop utilities, graphics software, media players to free web services at this site:

There are many security vulnerabilities waiting to be exploited on your system. It's easy to set automatic updates for Windows, it's not so easy keeping other software up-to-date. Secunia Software Inspector detects, reports, advises, and instructs you every step of the way.

I did an article not too long ago on a TweakUI program for Vista. It was released from an MVP rather than MS.
