Welcome To The BlogCatalog Discussions!
BlogCatalog is a member-driven social community for bloggers. Like all communities, we want every member to have a fun, safe, and beneficial experience.
Over the years, we have accepted several recommendations from our members in order to develop community guidelines. Please take a moment to read and abide in order to ensure your experience is the best it can be.
Personal Attacks
BlogCatalog has a healthy respect for free speech. However, posts that demean or are a mean-spirited attack on another member will be removed. As a general rule of thumb, debate the topic and not the people.
Advertising
Advertising products and services are not appropriate for the discussion area and will be removed. If you would like to discuss where advertising opportunities are permitted, please see www.blogcatalog.com/advertise/
Link Solicitation
Soliciting link exchanges or requesting links, votes, Diggs, Stumbles, etc. are not allowed in the discussions. If you would like to participate in an exchange program, please visit any number of Groups that were developed by members for such purposes. You can find them here www.blogcatalog.com/groups
Links Only
The discussion area is meant for initiating discussion. Posts that consist of nothing more than a link or “click to learn about something” will be removed. You can include links in a discussion if it is meant as a reference, furthers the discussion, or adds to the conversation.
Signature links are also not allowed.
Profanity and Pornography
Some conversations may be playful or suggestive in nature, but swearing, cursing, and lewd messages and/or images will be removed.
Inflammatory Discussions
If a discussion becomes inflammatory or inflamed (e.g., the purpose is to solicit a personal attack), comments and/or the entire thread will be removed based on the discretion of the moderator. This includes discussions designed to incite controversy, promote intolerance, or ridicule other beliefs (or lack of beliefs).
Duplicating Topics
Please take a moment to search for a topic before beginning a discussion. If the topic has been recently submitted, please consider adding to the existing topic rather than duplicating it.
Abuse of The Guidelines
BlogCatalog generally relies on the community to moderate itself. In most cases, members report violations and moderators make a determination whether or not a violation has occurred.
If there is a violation, it may result in the removal of the material, a warning, or a suspension of service. Repeated violations of the community guidelines or severe violations will result may result in expulsion from the community.
Click Fraud or other violations of Google’s Adsense policies will result in a member’s immediate removal. Any illegal (slander, fraud, identity theft, etc.) actions will result in a member’s immediate removal.
Moderators do not notify members of removals. Moderators will provide written notifications for warnings, suspension, and expulsion.
These guidelines are about creating a respectful place for everyone to enjoy and were written by members. They are periodically updated with suggestions.
