I've always observed women and their hair no not in a perverted way. Just that I've noticed that women who have had short hair when they were young now keep it long and vice versa. I conducted a little survey in my office with my lunch group and true enough my theory was proven right! Now I want to expand to a larger group to test my theory!

So what did you have?

When I was young I had long hair. Now I'm 40 and it's still very long. Never been short.
So the theory doesn't quite work for me. ;-)

Geez...not what I expected! But you are the first and hopefully there will be more to support it

good question. I suppose I fit into your theory, kinda:
    >I had short hair when I was a tomboyish kid;
    >in my high school & college years I grew it out a bit [okay okay so I had a mullet hairdo, LoL! we called it 'the rocker's hairstyle" and it was coooool! so there!];
    >when I was working I kept it short - *so* much easier to manage...
    >and now I've let it grow out quite long, not that I know how to make it look nice so it's usually tied back in a pony tail or something.

Could it be a cultural thing? Wich don't occur in Europe?
I know a lot more girls/women who have simular hair all their lives.
(well I mean not always the same haircut, but always the same lenght)

Don't laugh but my big brother still sports a mullet and he won't change it no matter what!
So you had several phases in your hairotonomy but ultimately ended up long after short. I'll take that! hehe

oh, i am always SO tempted to go back to a mullet 'do!! about the only thing keeping me back is the fact that here in the U.S. it's the subject of ridicule, what with its association with rednecks and all,,, what a shame,,, back where I grew up, it's more of a rockers/rebellious image, *that's* what I like, LoL!

    Oh boy...! A mullet..

    *laughs*

and my hair was longish when I was born according to my mother. (a week after I was born I was bold little woman according to the pictures)

Trollebol, I'm not sure! Maybe we'll get more responses to support something LOL

Hmm interesting... probably something I'll blog about eventually since my site is based on hair lol

I had super-long hair growing up, and now it's long, but not like it was.

Please say 'no' to mullets. Please? :-)

I see a bad moon rising! LOL

TSR, that's my theory not many women retain the hair length that they had when they were growing up! I do say no to mullets but my bro is a believer in the mullet

Hey badm00n, Mullets would be a great topic...to bring infamy to your blog that is! LOL

hahaha you know i'm soo gonna do it right?

Willow, Please don't go back to the mullet! There is just something not right about it! Besides you don't want to be an object of ridicule now do ya?

heehehe... like I said, I am tempted, but today's society holds me back LoL! No worries, wanting and doing are *very* different things! I'm relatively content to stick to my long hair even tho i really am clueless how to make it look good - Leos should have a nice mane, shouldn't they? :-)

Doesn't hold true for me. I'm 41 and although my hair is short now, it's only short because I had to cut it all off (14 inches) for medical reasons in the fall. Other than that it's always been long except for one brief period in college when a friend cut my hair in our dorm bathroom and something went terribly wrong and she had to cut it very short to fix it.

I have read before that women always return to the hairstyle they had at the happiest time in their lives, but no idea whether that holds water, either.

I am reminded of the f.r.i.e.n.d.s. episode where confusion between Dudley Moore and Demi Moore caused drastic changes in monica's hairstyle :-)

My wife's hair has creeped shorter over the past 11 years I've known her. She informs me that hair is supposed to be shorter as woman age. As long as it still looks healthy, I'm fine with long hair at any age.

I'll add to that to say that after going gray, sometimes hair goes purple (bad coloring jobs).

Madame X, Say I'm 41 too until next month at least! I hope everything will turn out okay for you and you'll be able to grow your hair back to the length of your choice! Take care!

Thank you EJ (I do note a familiar birth year as part of your "handle"). The upside is that I had enough hair to donate to Locks for Love. That was so cool that I'm kind of toying with the idea of growing it out and doing it again.

JW, Purple or not, at least they still have hair! Bet a lotta folks would certainly like to trade places with them

Went from long to short just recently. I change my hair when I'm craving something new. I've been back and forth forever.

Usually, women get shorter hair when they have kids..

My wife had her hair in the middle of her back 6 years ago, and it has been shoulder lenght since we got our kids..
  18. EddieJohn66
Say isn't wonder woman required to maintian her look! Wonder what sh'd look like in short hair? LOL

kiltak, Most do for the convenience but I know some who still keep it long

Well, I've played quite a bit with my hair. Throughout highschool it was pretty long but it was everything from black to fire engine red to a blue mohawk...Now that I must go to meetings in the corporate world from time to time with my advertising/design day-job I have blond hair just past my shoulders...Though that may change in August...My hairdresser is dying to punk it out again! *no pun intended* LOL!

Sounds Pretty "Hair Raising" to me LOL
