I will be writing a Halloween Roundup post for the BlogCatalog Spotlight that will post on Wednesday, October 28.

It will include the best Halloween material BC has to offer. Here are the rules:

If you are posting about Halloween -- costumes, crafts, humor, spooky tales, funny photos, hints or tips -- write a brief description and link in a PRIVATE shout to my shoutbox.

Here's the link: www.blogcatalog.com/user/MidwestMom

I am already making the Call for posts public on twitter. You can help out by re-tweeting it if you get the chance.

I will review all relevant posts submitted by the deadline -- Friday, October 23 -- and will include as many posts in the roundup as I can. Hopefully, this will give us all a chance to have a look at some blogs we haven't found before.

In the meantime, let's use this thread to talk about your best/worst Halloween...

(Just remember, link dropping is spooky and will turn your comment into a ghost of its former self!)

I will probably only do a post after the fact, but I will enjoy reading the others

In the UK, trick or treaters are not really welcomed, so usually you sit there in the dark waiting for the little creatures to disappear.

But I always go to some cool house parties and make Halloween inspired cocktails

Here, there is usually more treating than tricking... (or lurking).

The Halloween roundup post is up at the BC blog!

I included a few of my favorites from across the catalog as well as posts from BC members who submitted their Halloween stories and articles.

Please come by and have a read. (You may find some great blogs and bloggers you haven't met before.)

      Darn, I missed it!

      You can still comment!

What are you going to be for Halloween?
  4. NJFacePainter
On 10/31, a vampire. And I'm doing my husband up as Jigsaw from the Saw movies (mwahaha!). On 11/6, we're going to a Witches' Ball and I'm going as a dead pirate.

I love costume parties. My best one was when I went as a leper and carried a plate of finger-shaped hors d'oerves everywhere I went.

      ... the zombies loved me.

      That's awesome!!

Our goal on Halloween is to scare the bejeezus out of the neighborhood kiddies. while feeding them lots of sugar.

And at our own party that night, we're hosting a custom-made murder. I've been dying to do one of those for ages!

The Witches' Ball has a costume contest, so keep your fingers crossed for me. I want the win! (Or for my husband to have the win, since I'm doing his face too. Either way, it's a boost for me.)

      LOL a leper!
    4. MidwestMom
You know, nothings as scary on Halloween as dolls can be, Doll. (Have you read ThriftshopRomantic's Dolly Lady post?)

      oooOOOOoooo ... It's spooky!
    5. NJFacePainter
I hadn't, but now I'll have to. Dolls really mess with me. That's the only thing in Poltergeist that was scary! That damned clown doll!
    6. FreakSmack
Doll's being a party pooper. When we were kids our clothing was lead, quit spoiling these brats of today!
    7. DollinNYC
That would totally explain the superstars on your blog!
    8. NJFacePainter
Dollin, regarding the article pertaining to lead in face paint, please read my response to this, containing a response from Gary Cole, owner of Snazaroo.us at njfacepainter.blogspot.com/2009/10/face-paint-safety.html.

This study was sloppy and not done to industry standards.

While I cannot vouce for party store face paints, professional brands are FDA-compliant and perfectly safe.

There's some updated and additional information regarding the "lead in face paint" issue at my blog. Please check it out, to get the truth about face paint safety.

    pm bump

I would really recommend some of the spookier posts or 31 Days of Horror, for the night crowd.

Of course, nothing has freaked me out lately as much as the Paranormal Activity trailer. [shivers gleefully]

I thought the movie was dumb... And i was excited to see it.

I have a couple halloweeny posts. Granted they aren't scary.
    2. FreakSmack
db - Same review I keep hearing over and over

I have a pre-Halloween post now, but my blog's hosting a Halloween party this weekend.
    3. DollinNYC
FS - it's Halloween on your blog 365 days of the year!
    4. MidwestMom
@db -- you just wanted to say Hallow-weenie, didn't you?

(And seriously?!? PA was dumb? I watched the trailer at night and it made me want to sleep with all the lights turned on.)
    5. dbowles1017
      You caught me... ;p

I watched the first 20 minutes, and it put me to sleep. It may have gotten better, but I would wait for it come out on DVD or find alternate ways to 'watch' it
  6. wagerwitch
I would post my site - but all I am is a gambling witch on a roadtrip. *grin*
    1. FreakSmack
Is that a line from a Beetles song?
    2. MidwestMom
      @ww

Do you celebrate this time of year at all?
