Would you fight off a robber or just let him take whatever he wants from you?

Money, and things can be replaced but life cannot. He can have my things but if the life of others was in danger I would fight.

Take all my money, my wedding ring, my car...just let me get the kids out first or you will be dragging me down the street.

What are we saying here?
Who am I to argue with an armed quy(s)?
Whether the quy(s) is armed with a machine gun, pistol or even a broken beer bottle.
The fact remains that they are armed and to do harm to get at what they want and i will be the last to argue not talk fighting them but that's if they don't touch my lady.
They will have to kill and bury me first before they do that. -

A traveller always told me to carry two wallets - my real one and one containing invalid credit cards, $5 and a note saying "Fck you!"
So if a mugger demands your wallet, give him the fake one. Clever eh? -
As long as he doesn't look want to kill me, I'll just give my money. But if he wants to kill me, then I have to kill him first

Having had the experience of being robbed at gun point back in 1995 I can tell you it is a frightening experience. You just do not know what the idiot with the gun is going to do. I gave him exactly what he asked for and then I was glad to see him turn and run. NO the police never caught him. However, my watch had a serial number and it was found in a police raid on a pawn shop one year later. I got my watch back almost two years from the day it was taken from me.

If he wants my 8 years old Nokia phone and my 2 dollars in my wallet, he is welcome to them. He obviously needs them more than I do.

i'm guessing i'd either run for it or hand over the cash. i like my body just fine as is, no extra perforations courtesy guns or knives are necessary.

Oh ..
I would give up my life, because I can't get another wad of money.
or
I would give up my money, because I can't get another life.
I can't answer this now, as if i had time to rationally think of such a thing. I hope I'm never in that situation (again) that I have to choose. -

Oh, you give them the money, of course. When I was the victim of a home invasion robbery I was tied up, thrown on the floor (no small feat as I am a large woman) and stabbed 7 times. This is after I repeatedly said "tell me what you want and I'll help you." Why? because they were convinced we had more.
Safety tip: if you have a safe for your valuables, get another one. Have that one where it can be found with very little effort and put a small amount of cash and a few items of cheap jewellery in it. Have your real safe in a much less obvious place: in a floor space that can be entered from a closet floor---which is covered with carpeting...in side the hatch to the attic space...under a bathroom sink, far back in the cupboard, etc. Few robbers ever consider that there is more than one safe and once they have found the "decoy" will not look further. -
Depends, money he could have.
Indicate a threat to my wife or children and it's all over.
Thankfully I live in a state with concealed carry. -
Hmmm... money can be replaced but not my life. What worries me is that some robbers don't ask you to chose.

The worst part would be the inconvenience of having to cancel credit cards and get a new driver's license. I wouldn't try to fight more than just playing tug-of-war for a second, but it's also more the inconvenience than the actual cash theft that would piss me off.
On a side note, I read an article on MSN yesterday about a guy that was being robbed in his home. He snuck out the basement while the robbers were upstairs in the process of taking his flat-screen tv's and electronics. When he got outside he noticed their van parked in front of his house, keys in ignition and still running. He called the cops and drove that get-away vehicle to a friends house. PERFECT! Steal the theif's get-away vehicle! -
It really depends on the situation and the robber. If I think I have a shot; even if it is small, I'll take it.
When I think about it, I don't think I'm the ideal subject for robbers. I don't usually walk aruond with my Mastercard or cash. I have my Visa, but you have to have a code to use that. By the time the robber has figured out the code and tries to take the money in my account, I've already blocked my account -

My life is important than money...if that was the case I'd rather let them go if I know that I can't do anything for my safety.

i have an acquaintance who made a joke out of it. hands up, your life or your money?
she answered... rape! -
I've been held up once at knife point and once at gun point. Both situations, I played like i was going along and then fought back. Both times I got away with nothing but a few bruises, and the dude dropped the gun and ran after my friends started running towards us. He had one bullet in the chamber, but no clip, which is why I fought him. He had a small glock and big hands. The clip could have been in there, but anyone owning a gun of that size with those big hands would have gotten a clip with the pinky finger grip. With clear sight to the grip and absence of the finger grip I took the chance.I'm no easy robbery, but I don't know if I would have the same reaction today. Hopefully, I'm never in that position again

"Would you fight off a robber or just let him take whatever he wants from you?"
Too many variables.
My answer would be "it depends."
Jack Benny (American comedian), who played a monumentally stingy miser, was asked that question in one of his skits. After the usual Benny-esqe pause, he said, "I'm thinking!" -
