I've enjoyed the various Harry Potter films. I don't really have expectations, though. Just a wait-and-see.

I've enjoyed all the Potter films so far. Hopefully, this one will be no exception, although I'd love some of the character moments that defined Goblet of Fire so well to make a return.

Well...I'm personally not expecting much. I mean, I enjoyed the movies, but having read the books, I'm not sure how they're going to work some of the stuff out. As long as they make it makes sense, I'm cool.

I was a little disappointed with the last movie, only because a lot was left out (understandably, but still).

As the books get longer, I wonder how they will be brought to the screen without turning them into epic length movies and/or cutting too much out. Maybe they will be split.

I'll still go and see it, though

I have decided to treat them as separate entities and try not to get disappointed when they leave stuff out
    2. Anok
Yeah, me too. It hasn't worked, though

I've tried the same as Claire. The books rule, the movies are good, but they're not one and the same, for sure. I've noticed the movie lovers and book lovers are very different from one another!

yeah the last movie was disappointing but the fight scene is actually cool

Yeah, but the statues just sat there! I try to let go of the books (like I do with so many movies they've slaughtered from excellent books) but it's very difficult to do. It never fails that my favorite scene gets cut or mangled for film continuity. I watch them anyway, though. The hubby and the kids love 'em. The book thing doesn't bother hubby at all.

You mean the scene at the end of OOTP? I am showing my Potter geekness here, but that is perhaps the best 20 minutes of film I've seen.
    7. akumusha
      yeah the last fight scene.,
    1. crpitt
      That was nasty.

What a jerky thing to impart voodookobra. Please don't tell any more. Do not spoil it for the rest of us. We big kids like the magic and suspense, thank you.
    3. crpitt
      Wow thanks for that, tool.
    4. voodooKobra
Haha, post removed. To be fair, I did provide a spoiler alert. Technically.
    5. akumusha
      @crpitt
      yeah!
    6. crpitt
Well I cried last night over your meanness voodoohoodoo.
    7. voodooKobra
If you think about it, you have no one to blame but yourself. And me, but mostly you.
    8. crpitt
I didn't actually cry and have read all the books.
I just thought you were being an arse.
    9. voodooKobra
Fair enough. Also, it seems that the word "apathy" didn't bother to float across your mind when you posted that.
    10. crpitt
      Why would it?
If you were indifferent to whole subject why bother posting anything.
It was just a harmless discussion about Harry Potter.
    11. pumpkinlights
Odd, I've never seen a post removed by the community before.
    12. akumusha
those were spoilers., i reported them., maybe some others too thats why they removed it.,

I do not read any of the books but I have seen the movies, over and again. I find them very entertaining. I am looking forward to the new release. Four more months to wait!
    1. boytrotters
Yes... about 120 sleeps to go! Give or take a few...
  6. rakhisabant
    it will suck too!

Wow ... do tell, does your avatar have two red horns, or am I just imagining it?
  7. pumpkinlights
I am expecting it to be one of my Top 10 favorite films along with the other 5 already released.

I was thinking about getting the three I do not have. I have gotten much enjoyment from these Harry Potter adventures.

Well, nothing will top last year, no matter what. I had a BLAST going to the movie and humming the score before the movie started just to annoy my kids. Then I waited in line at midnight for my copy of the book AND I got to write about all of it! I devised HP recipes and cooked up a storm. It was so fun. Really, I was a total juvenile last summer.

AnniePooh ... If I were to be reborn I would like for you to be my mother. You are always so much fun and full of interesting things to do. Your children are very lucky.
    2. Anniepooh
Can you call and tell my husband that? You're so sweet. I think I spend too much time creating kid stuff. Well, I may as well with so many of them, huh?

I enjoyed the books, except for the last one - the epilogue seemed very hastily thrown together and the overall quality of the writing was diminished in my opinion.

I enjoyed the first four films, but the last one was terrible. Many people who had read the book left the film midway through and I heard an undercurrent of grumbling "No, that's not right!" throughout...so I will see this installment, but I'm not expecting much.

interesting reactions. i thought the last movie was really really good. cuts always frustrate me, but i recall thinking that at least the cuts for that one were good - unlike movie 3. short of pulling a "lord of the rings" there's just not a way to include all the subplots.

as for the final book - yes, the epilogue was ... odd. but i understand why she did it that way, so it was a bit of an "aww, i was hoping for even more" ... but i'd rather the series go out that way than it getting old and crappy.

Goblet of Fire was my favorite HP movie. I read all the books, but I find that I enjoy the movies in a different way. I don't get all riled up that the movies aren't 100% faithful to the books like I do for some other movies (I am Legend just pissed me off).

After Alfonso Cuaron (Prisoner) and Mike Newell (Goblet) both made such beautiful Potter movies, I was so disappointed by David Yates (Phoenix). I thought his vision of Harry Potter was so flat footed and lacked artistry. Now, I heard he is going to direct the rest of the series.

How cool would have a Darren Aronofsky directed Harry Potter film be or maybe Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth).

I saw the trailer and I liked it , I think the people in charge are very careful not to disappoint the audience, they produce each film perfectly
