Hi There,
I am interested in creating a blog carnival, but I'd like to know if it is a good method of building traffic. I am not afraid of hard work, so it is not a problem.
I'd like to know, if it is worth doing.
Thanks

I use blog carnival and have had traffic through there. Like anything, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

i have no idea what Blog carnival is. so had to go google.
For others like me en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog_carnival -
It is a good way to generate traffic whether you are hosting the carnival or you submit a post of yours to another blog that is the host. I submit my posts sometimes to the Carnival of the Godless (COTG) and I get a significant increase in traffic because of it.
My post www.travisjmorgan.com/blog/2009/03/19/atheism-and-hope/ was recently featured for the 113th Carnival of the Godless at www.daylightatheism.org/2009/03/carnival-of-the-godless-113.html -
I've been in a few carnivals and have gotten some traffic from them. Nothing largely substantial though, but a few people here and there that become long term readers is better than 100 people just stopping by and leaving. I'm still submitting articles to carnivals though and hopefully one carnival will be able to generate substantial amounts of traffic for me. *shrugs*
I would say they are worth hosting if you promote it right and ensure that only good quality material makes the cut. -
I am a member over at humorbloggers.com and we have carnivals that apply to certain themes from time-to-time. We are invited to submit our links, then an article listing our post/description is published. This gives the readers an opportunity to get a sampling before they click over to read.
Best of luck with your endeavor. -
Hi,
I am fairly new to the blogging world and have been trying blog carnivals for about a month now. With some postings I have seen an increase in traffic with up to 250 new hits. With others, about 10 -15 new visitors. It really depends on the popularity of the site that is hosting the carnival. If they have significant traffic you might get a good portion of that pie.
As with hosting a blog carnival - I recommend it and am planning on hosting one myself. Here are my pointers - some carnivals post your article and don't inform you that they have done so. Since I sumbit to about 20 carnivals a week - there is no way for me to go back and track who posted my article. The bloggers that email me and inform me they have published my post - suddenly have me marketing their site. I link their carnival to all my social networking sites (mybloglog.com, twitter, facebook, blogcatalog, technorati, stumbleupon, etc). So when you host - inform your participants via email and ask them to link back to your carnival and include it on all their social networking sites. This way you suddenly have 15 - 20 people marketing for you.
Hope this helps!
Mina
