I haven't, but my brother helped in the saving of a group of people. A multi-family house was on fire and he helped get the people out. He was all over the local news

Not directly, but my dad has twice (once performing the Heimlich on a choking victim in a restaurant and once carrying two people out of a burning plane). But I've had a couple of people THINK I saved their lives--an elderly woman I brought heart medication to when she was alone and unable to get out of bed and a young man I paid to put in rehab many years ago.

It's really hard to say for sure. I've helped out a lot of people that were struggling in the water. It's possible that they would have drowned if I didn't but I wouldn't say that I saved lives.
This one couple, in particular, the woman was trapped under the sail of a capsized boat and tangled in the ropes. I dove under and freed her. I was amazed at how frantic and entangled she was. It was pretty dangerous for both of us. So, this one I would probably say that I saved her life but who really knows?-
Way to go Ekim!
I was a lifeguard and I did save a few people during that time.
Once, after a Valentine's gig, while we were packing up our instruments for the night, this girl looked to be passed out and her friends were dragging her toward the ladies room. I decided to follow, as the young girl had partied on the dance floor all night and had given lots of good vibes. Long story short, I got 911 called pretty fast and two or three guys to hold her up and try to do the Heimlich on her, but she was a dead weight. We blew air into her mouth to keep the air flowing until the paramedics showed up. It felt like a log time, but the firehouse was practically across the street. They told me my quick thinking saved her. The next night she came in to the nightclub and thanked me and gave me a crushing hug and kiss. You have to keep alert.
There have been other instances ... an auto crash ... insisting someone stay with a girl ... things that the angels were telling me to do in order to help others. Not fanciful in the least. I am an intuitive.
My Niece was choking once and we turned her upside down and smacked her on the back. Out popped some food. I almost forgot that. My Mother. Wow. I had not thought about these things for some time. -
Water rescues scare me a bit. I don't really have any formal training and I know that drowning victims are so desperate that they will grab onto you. It gets very dangerous.
There were 2 guys trying to right the boat but I knew she didn't have that much time. After I got her out, they still didn't have the boat righted.

- Heimlich maneuver on a co-worker who was choking. (when I was a bartender)
- Pulled someone who was drowning out of the water. (when I was a lifeguard)
Aaahhh.... lifeguard by day, bartender by night.... those where the good ole' days.

I saved an animal's life, and rescued it from the shelter. I try to save myself by remembering to breathe in and out every day and night too.

Once my baby son was choking on a lentil. It was absolutely terrifying. Several problems all at once.
First, it was hard to tell if he was really choking. He had some air, but not enough. Later, the doc told me I probably saved his life.. which definitely was kind of freaky to hear.
2nd, his grandmother was there, panicing. Taking care of the baby with her yelling was stressful.
It was over as fast as it happened. A couple thumps on his back caused him to expel the stuff that was blocking his breathing. He cried a little and that was that, except I think we all felt a huge relief and sense of need for caution going forward. -
When my 3rd daughter was 8 she was choking - no air whatsoever was getting in or out of her - and I performed the Heimlich (3 times) and whatever was blocking her airway was dislodged. It was a horrific few moments spent with the rest of the kids looking on and crying. I was sick for days after that.
Everyone got a lesson in what to do when someone is choking. My husband stared at me and had NO clue what to do. I yelled at him to call 911 while I was doing a finger sweep. We all had a long talk after that. -
My daughter chocked on popcorn at the movies and did the heimlich maneuver. scariest thing i have even been through

Several years ago, I teenager was on a limited access highway and lost control of her car, swerved, flipped 4 or 5 times. Thank goodness she had her seatbelt on. She would have been dead. My girlfriend at the time was trying to get her out, while I tried to get the hood open and disconnect the battery, but no use. The fuel tank was trashed and leaking everywhere in tall dried out grass. So I grabbed a pocketknife and had to cut her seatbelt to be able to pull her out. About 30 seconds later the car was on fire from the fuel, dry grass, and spark from the engine.

I saved my cousin once when he was 1 and fell in the pool. i had to jump a fence and then into the pool with all my clothes on. Then another time when he was 8 he started choking I told him to cough it out but he couldn't so I had to give him abdominal thrusts until he puked up the item which turned out to be a chunk of cookie. The other day I had to climb under a vw van that had a kitten get caught up in the framework. Lucky it wasn't hurt but it had been up there over 24 hours while the van was being driven around. At least that is what the owner of the vehicle said. I blogged about it you should read it on my page firefighterchronicles.com

It's the other way. My life had been saved. Thanks to my landlord. I had just written a short story about it.
Here is how it happened:

Yes, when I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan in 1995. A friend of mine and I were walking on the beach when we noticed two Japanese women in the water. It was well past midnight and one of the women appeared to be trying to drown herself. When we went out into the water, we saw that the smaller of the two women was trying to keep her friend from going out any further. We then grabbed the arms and legs of the woman who was trying to drown herself and quickly smelled alcohol on her breath. After dealing with her struggling for a few minutes, we were able to get her out of the water and up to the boardwalk where a group of the women's friends were standing. Both of the women thanked us and we went on our way after a few minutes. I still wonder what became of the one who tried to drown herself.

A couple of years ago, myself and another stranger pulled a couple out of their crashed SUV, that was in the fast lane, before a an 18-wheeler came over the hill and smashed it at 70 miles per hour.
The thing that sucked though was I was the one who spent time in the hospital with a broken hand and wrist from busting out the car window to unlock the doors. -
