Has Anyone Used SOCIALMATIC?

I'm new-ish to BlogCatalog, and I'm wondering if this social bookmarking website that contacted me called SocialMatic is worth looking into? Does everyone get spammed by these guys or are they a-ok?

I've gotten the emails, too. They're rather high-pressure emails actually, indicating how I hadn't responded to them, etc.

Like I'd been neglecting their solicitation and was being rude.

Not possibly the best marketing tactic.

  I also found that they had an alarmingly bad handle on the English language in their solicitation email. I'll probably skip this one. Thanks!

I'm actually really glad you brought this up, FlamingSpinach.

After the email today, I was getting annoyed and was wondering how isolated this all was, since it appeared vaguely personalized.

Now I think I'll bin it for sure.

I've also received two emails from them. The first one I left in my in-box to look at the later; when the second one came in I spammed it. Sounds like we're all on track with this.

There's an issue here much more serious than whether or not SocialMatic is spamming us. See this thread www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/socialmatic-1 for a discussion of how SocialMatic's terms and conditions submit anything you submit over there to a Public Domain Creative Commons license.

Wow, looks like I received the most emails (total of 4). Strangely enough, I stopped receiving them after I posted about their spam emails in my blog.

They ask for all your passwords to all social networking sites. It makes me nervous, cause couldn't they go into your accounts and basically wipe you off the social network scene?

  It is highly unusual, to say the least. That part didn't bother me because I have a PO Box that I use for such things, but it did strike me as odd and suspicious.

I've heard from them too. Apparently, they are "pleased to inform you that your site are interesting and worth sharing to other users online". So that's good. Spammers approve of my work LOL What greater compliment could I receive.

Glad you already talked about this! I just got the email "pleased to inform you that your site are interesting and worth sharing", etc. :-) There's not much this beginner wouldn't do for some traffic, but this seems like it'd be a total waste of time - thanks for confirming!

While I wouldn't have anything to do with them after reading about them for the first time on this thread...I'm suffering from some self esteem issues now because I haven't been SPAMMED by them yet. What's wrong with me? What's wrong with our blog? Did we say something? Is it our breath? I have a mint! No, I'm kidding, I'm cool. I don't care.

I found her in my spam folder! She narrowly missed being ignored altogether. But once I Googled them and ended up seeing this discussion, back to the Spampile she went.
