Hahaha yes I've been to the Philippines & am still here now. I came out for xmas with my wife november 2007 & never returned to the UK. I mean this country is so beautiful & so easy to fall in love with, just like the people.
A warmer more friendlier race of people I have never met in my entire life

Yep... been to Manila few years back

No, never been there. I don't know if I ever will. Maybe if they can deal with those muslim extremists in the south, I'll go.

      @trailofpen,
Your comments are just a typical narrow minded attitude.
You clearly state you have never been here , yet you voice an opinion on a country & people you know nothing at all about. I have lived in Surigao City for nearly 2 years now & I can tell you I have never had any trouble or been in fear of my own or my families safety. Not something I could say about the UK, where gangs of teenagers roamed the city streets at night looking for innocent passers bye to stomp & beat up. Oh and these gangs were not Muslim either, they were white uncontrolled teenage hooligans.

Having now experienced both cultures I can tell you honestly there is a lot the west could learn from the asian communities especially that of the Philippines, where family values count above all else, where you are offered a seat at a table no matter how poor the family may be, where even as adults in their mid twenties they will still show respect to teachers & elders by holding the persons hand to their forehead & bowing slightly. A more friendly, modest, easy going race of people I have yet to meet.

Finally your comments about the Muslims in the south (I assume your talking about Mindanao) are no different to the troubles between the UK & Ireland, yet I don't see you warning people off any Catholic community !!!

LOL, I know bout the people bro, i'm filipino, 1st gen american. But I'm still not going, just like I'm not going to Mexico anytime soon. I'm guessing you are from the UK or Ireland, so you aren't making the same mistake you are accusing me of about me making generalizations about a situation I don't understand... because if you aren't from the UK or Ireland, then major LOL.

Hmmmm...where is the Philippines? Is it the same place I am blogging in right now?..Figures

      @ trailofpen,

Ok mate so your a Filipino & 1st gen yank, however my point still stands, in a country that struggles to increase it's share of Asia's tourist industry, it does no good having people come out with negative comments & scaremonger tactics !

Yes I was born & raised in the UK, in fact I am old enough to remember the Uk when people could leave their doors unlocked, when kids played in the street without fear of kidnap, child molestors, drug pushers or gangs & where women could walk home in the evenings without fear of rape! & it saddens me greatly to see what the UK has become.

So yes I do know all about the troubles in Ireland, however I have travelled to Southern Ireland many times & irrespective of what the media tries to feed us, the Southern Irish are another very friendly, warm & inviting people, just like most Filipinos.

I do realise however, that being americanized, it would probably give you the attitude you have with regard to Muslims & yes I am aware there are some extremist amongst them just as there were extremists in Ireland, but it really is wrong to generalize!

      Regards Taffy

Bro, I was referring to one specific group of people, not generalizing about whole inclusive group. When I say Muslim extremists I'm not refering to all Muslims, so get off your soap box. If anything, your rant is more revealing about your own prejudices and not mine. Never once did I generalize all Muslims as being extremists. You are the one that even brought that up.

Heres an analogy to make this easier for you to handle. I have a friend who has black widow spiders in their garden and I tell them I'm not going in their garden because of them. They tell me that the chances of me getting bitten are slim. But, I still say I won't go because it's my choice. It's the same damn thing. Get off your soap box, you might just slip and fall.

Oh, and great job generalizing about American's views on Muslims. Bravo, you really do yourself in don't you?

No,I have never been there, but it would be nice to visit it someday.

      @@@ trailofpen,

hahahaha soap box !!! why on earth soap box...? or is that simply a smoke screen to try & hide your idiotic mistake.

Ok try and follow this time, before you dig a hole so deep you will never find a way out !

      1. your comment "No, never been there. I don't know if I ever will. Maybe if they can deal with those muslim extremists in the south, I'll go." is an uncalled for generalization, would it not have been sufficient to simply say "terrorists" ??? But no you just had to tag Muslim on didn't you.

      2. You may well have Filipino blood running through youir veins, but your rude & arrogant attitude clearly shows you have been well and truely americanized / westernised and as such couldn't give a toss about the effect your idiotic statement has on the tourist industry in your ancestral homeland. Or is it simply the case of "I'm alright jack, so screw you"

      3. My comment "I do realise however, that being americanized, it would probably give you the attitude you have with regard to Muslims", was not in any way a generalization as you seem to have taken it ! I simply meant that being americanized as you quite obviously are, then it is quite understandable you hold the view you do about Muslims, when you remember such tragedies as 911.(sorry I didn't realise I had to draw pictures)

      4. Ah thankyou so much for your little analogy hahaha I see you do not generalize about spiders as a whole, you simply say Black Widow ! Ahmmm any of this sinken in yet spiders/muslims or black widow/terrorists ? You were wrong which ever way you look at it so why don't you just back down gracefully & learn from a terrible case of sticking ones foot in ones mouth!

Now I am sure that to any right thinking person, those explanations make perfect sense! However here's a little analogy for you, people get run over by motor vehicles every single day, so does this mean you will lock yourself away and never set foot outside your door ever again...? BASTA !
    2. trailofpen
Absolutely nothing you wrote makes sense except for in your own little world where everything you write is gospel.

"2. You my friend are a bigot, and if you cannot see that, then keep preaching your gospel brother, right on your soap box.

Why don't you do a google search for the keywords "muslim extremists south philippines" and chronicle all the news stories over the past 10 years. You will have enough material to fill an entire library.
    3. trailofpen
Oh and by the way, as for the spider analogy, spiders in general are only seen as menacing by those who do not understand and are afraid of them. It's funny because in your own rebuttal, used this exact ideology to correlate spiders (bad, scary, creepy) with muslims as a whole. MAJOR LOL. Good way to expose your own views brother. LOL
  8. thought
    never been out of india

I have a big scout friendship group at Philippines but never been there , just waiting for some conference over there.
    1. Taffy1957
Oh dear trailofcrap, oops sorry I mean pen !

I doubt very much that you are indeed a Filipino, because my friend if you were you would clearly understand my points & also the term BASTA!

"spiders in general are only seen as menacing by those who do not understand and are afraid of them. It's funny because in your own rebuttal, used this exact ideology to correlate spiders (bad, scary, creepy) with muslims as a whole. MAJOR LOL. Good way to expose your own views brother. LOL"

I do not suffer from aracnaphobia or any other phobias for that matter, therefore unlike YOU I do not see spiders or Muslims as bad, scarey or creepy & the only reason the term spiders was used, was because YOU introduced it into this discussion.

As for your comment bigot (LMFAO you must be stood in front of a mirror writing your narrow minded, self opinionated, unjust crap)

bigoted - Being a bigot; biased; strongly prejudiced; forming opinions without just cause
(LMFAO guess who this reminds everyone of..? Just read your first comment)

bigotry - intolerance toward those of different creeds or religious affiliations
(My God you have done such a fantastic job of shoving your own foot halfway down your own throat)

Hahaha I couldn't have done it better if I tried !!!

Oh and finally, do stop calling me brother, I am not your brother & never likely to be! My particular gene pool stepped forth from the muudy pool approx 4,500,000 years ago. Whilst yours on the other hand is still splashing around on the fringes & wondering is the world a safe place to go and play hahahaha.

Now then BASTA (end of, finished, no more to be said)
