was within 12 hours of going, been in a police station no end of times.

I should have been a policeman, Im always helping them with their enquiries
    1. Anok
! I Knew it! I knew you were a trouble maker....were like brethren!
    2. crkian
It wasnt me, as I told him I was with his wife at the time.
    3. Fashionisto
but your avatar makes you look so innocent!
    4. Anok
OH! Ouch! I'll have to remember that response!
    5. daniel23
"Im always helping them with their enquiries"

      Grass.
  2. DOUGGOFFdotCOM
Unfortunately yes I have been several times, although that was when I was 19-20 years old.
  3. Sylvia
Yes, but it was like a tour. One of those high school scare tactic things to keep people out of trouble.
    1. Fashionisto
damn, it might be nice to be in a jail cell with you
    2. Sylvia
....I take my whip everywhere, you may want to reconsider.
  4. boazstuff
Wll, I tried to find a job there but couldn't due to physical limitation. . . If not, i would answer yes.
Anyway, my workplace is one which i've been trying to get out. It's like a cage to me. A jail.
    1. daniel23
so you're, like, an outlaw MadameX?

      kewl.
    2. daniel23
      replied to wrong person...
  5. MadameX
Many, many, many times. I've been in jails in multiple states.

    Oh.

    Wait.

Did you mean as an inmate?
    1. Anok
I'm picturing you in a prison jumpsuit right now...do you prefer orange, or stripes?

You'd be like the mama hen of the prison...I can see it now...
    2. sellytapgirl
Like Chicago! Lol, I'm a musical theater dork and proud.
    3. MadameX
That's funny, Anok, because I kind of WAS the mother hen of the prison, even on a visiting basis. People used to tell me all the time that I was more social worker than lawyer.
    4. Anok
HAhahaha! Thats awesome. I'm also known as "mother hen" I take care of all the rowdy punks, which is about the same as being a prison guard without the benefit of handcuffs or bars...

      Someone has to!

Oh, and Selly, I LOVE Chicago! Queen Latifah did a fantastic job in her role
  6. footiam
    From Monday to Friday
  7. nhea4U
No. I just can't imagine myself in jail.
  8. alexmcone
Never as an inmate. But yes I've spent the night in jail
  9. genopianist54
Nope, and God i hope not..
  10. whojaybe
Um... it depends... "technically" um, I'll just say no lol
    1. Fashionisto
      technically?
  11. Shiley
No, but I just found out my brother was arrested this week.
  12. sellytapgirl
I have been to a jail/prison/whatever, but I have not been arrested.
  13. DrowseyMonkey
I used to work in one ... a prison actually. Wasn't a pleasant experience.
    1. daniel23
Yeah, don't be a screw. It isn't cool.
    2. daniel23
working for the prison-industrial complex seems like a bad career choicefrom a kind of ethical stand=point.
    3. crpitt
      Screw = Prison Guard

      Oh i was too slow
    4. DrowseyMonkey
I wasn't a guard, I worked in an office. It didn't strike me as unethical. It was scary at times tho.
    5. sellytapgirl
      Makes much more sense now
    6. daniel23
the prison system is institutionalised modern day slavery for millions of people who have done nothing wrong. some guy from my neighborhood is in for like 10 years for possessing weed. that's insane and wrong.
    7. DrowseyMonkey
Ah, well...I worked in the records section ... the prison was full of rapists and murderers ... didn't seem unethical to me to have them in there. But I get your point...that's more about the system in general tho.
    8. daniel23
rapists and murderers shouldn't be kept at public expense. they should just hang 'em high.
    9. Fashionisto
daniel23 , you make absolutely no sense in anything your saying, I'm not arguing with your opinion, because frankly, I have no idea what it is.

1- You oppose someones decision as to being a prison guard, yet you say "prison system is institutionalised modern day slavery for millions of people who have done nothing wrong", if you feel that way, don't you feel more staff in prisons ( well trained) would alleviate the presssures and safety/health concerns of a prison?

2- Then you go on to say "rapists and murderers shouldn't be kept at public expense. they should just hang 'em high." So you are against slavery and injustice, but for the death penalty of anyone convicted of certain crimes meanwhile disputing harsh penalties.

3- you haven't even answered the question.
  14. aningeniousname
I was jailed for two weeks in the late eighties for refusing to pay Thatcher's Poll tax, booooo Thatcher!!!
    1. daniel23
Good on you. You're a hero.

Thank you for standing up for the country and for what's right and just.
  15. Gallego71
yes once for driving with a suspended license. spent the night after that we got that little problem fixed
  16. daniel23
My mate's brother was banged up for a few months for a very late library fine and then a year for parole violations. Justice is beautiful.
  17. just4spamming
Several times 2 hours for being asked to show my identity card to the police whereas I had left it at home. This was more than 10 years ago, nowadays then don't ask me that anymore. Once I had 5 hours prison for refusing making the coffee on my work as I was engaged there as employee not as kitchen staff member. I had merited only two hours.

  18. ettarose
You just don't know! Please read this ettarose-edgeofsanity.blogspot.com/2008/03/what-i-learned-from-law.html and you will see how and why I went to jail. Never even had a parking ticket.
  19. globalgirl

    3. Fashionisto
beautiful piece of property, I just can't imagine why people would spend half a day touring that place...oh wel, to each his own.
  20. pointlessbanter

    1. beinki
I drank the fifth, got thrown in the drunk tank overnight for a dwi.
    2. crpitt

  21. olgatravelingbra
I was incarcerated in the lost package bin for 3 weeks at the Tempe, Arizona branch of the US Post Office...does that count?
  22. cooper
To pick uP friends twice. Once in high school and once in NYC.
  23. gerryPlanetEarth
Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years...
  24. Jaya
No, I was never put in
    jail, although I was once
    arrested for trespassing
    during a protest against
    a dangerously situated
    nuclear power plant, back
there were so many of us
    arrested that they let us
all go, rather than go to
    the trouble of processing
    and jailing us all.
    1. MadameX
It's not the processing, Jaya, it's the food and bedding and such. A certain time rolls around and they're obligated to feed you and give you a place to sleep, and if it's a large protest and it's not a major city, they usually can't do it. If some people start posting bond, then those who don't/can't end up staying in jail, but if everyone hangs tough they usually end up having to release everyone on OR because they don't have the facilities to comply with the legal requirements for keeping everyone.
    2. Fashionisto
      bless you
  25. kdawg68
Yes. I got thrown in jail for fighting in college. It was a minor offense. Got released the next morning and the arresting officer actually drove me to my dorm room. Crazy but true.
  26. offendedblogger
    Never.

Not because I didn't deserve to more than once, I was too smart to get caught.
    1. Donlewis
Once. Or twice. I wasn't as smart.
  27. acousticguitarist
Many times, but not as a prisoner. I used to work for the government.
  28. wehireu
I've visited jails, but I've never been a prisoner.
  29. TheBigRuski
    drunk tank one night...

It's part of my story. The part that helped lead to an awakening that changed my life forever!
  30. nardeeisms
No. But those who know me have said that I will be going in about 8 years and that I will be charged with either aggravated assault or murder. That's when my son becomes a full fledged teenager with driving privileges ;-).
  31. gosmelltheflowers
    Hey Fash...

  32. davet
