My name pops up everywhere, but so does every possible variation of a well known singer!
  2. calais50
I have, but there are too many people with my name to come up with anything relevant.
  3. Jeunelle
Oh yes, I do come up a lot and those Social Networks I belong to are all there.
Besides... my main website is JeunelleFoster.com..Opps
I just googled myself and I have about 10 pages full on Google.
I sometimes use a google search to see what my other Social Network friends are up to,
where they signed up, what social network they are now a member of, stuff like that.
It's good to see what they are up to and what's new that you may not of been aware of.

    All the time!!!

Assuming you have a unique name, Google Alerts can send you an email every time someone writes something about you.
    1. IanThal
That's what I do. I even wrote about a surprising result last year:

      ianthal.blogspot.com/2007/06/ian-thal-and-doppelgngers.html
  6. AvaBnd
I would not mind if it was just my name but I have to share the space with 'celebrity'. (said with tongue in cheek).
  7. DeadRooster
There are over 3,000 results for my name and most of them are me--I must be somebody important. LOL
    1. DeadRooster
Over 55,000 for deadrooster--it appears a large portion of them are connected to me.
  8. robinj
not mine but I have done so to some avatars and email addresses just to make sure I am not being stalked by weird people
  9. Jeunelle
I am now interested in finding ways to not come up in a Google search.
It can be done but that must suck for business.
  10. jackpayne
Yeah, some interesting stuff. Strangely, very little about the 55 books from early in my career, but a lot of stuff about the last one, Six Hours Past Thursday, my only novel. Can't figure.
    1. MadameX
Jack, might that not be largely a function of the fact that the world wasn't online when those books were being promoted?
  11. MadameX
Six of the top ten results for my name are me, but most of them are not my sites--either profiles on other sites or articles I've written elsewhere. I get a lot of search traffic, though, on my name combined with other words like "writer", "lawyer", and the just-absolutely-isn't-ever-going-to-die Rick Springfield connection.
  12. AvaBnd
I find it strangely amusing yet scary too.
  13. calais50
It is more interesting for me to look up my BC name than my real name.
  14. Katuluu
Plenty of my actual work pops up when you google my name, though funny enough not from my own site but from the others I write for, but there is also a few odd entries that pop up that most certainly not me.
  15. BlogBadly
Yeah. I've got about ten thousand results and most are me. It's pretty sweet.
  16. Anniepooh
Yes, but it's too comoon so it's not ever relevant to me.
  17. offendedblogger
14,600 results for offendedblogger. As for my real name, only one that is me, the rest are imposters.
  18. gingerbeer25
I gave up after reaching page 10 and finding no link to me...I do know that googling womanist which is part of my blog will show up in the first page so I guess that is something...
  19. robertstevenson
Rob's Megaphone got 7,590 on google. Because Robert Stevenson is pretty common. I search "Robert Stevenson" Lander University where I work. I get 685, but most still aren't me.
  20. TheBigRuski
Yes...even though it's not about me!

    15,400 for TheBigRuski

226,000,000 for my other user name, Alexander...most aren't me.
  21. JanelleV
actually - yes, but nothing really came up that was relevant to me.
  22. lulubelleb
The term you're looking for is "Googleganger". From urbandictionary.com...

Googleganger: Similar to that of a doppleganger, it is another individual with the same name as you whose records and/or stories are mixed in with your own when you Google yourself.

"Hey, I just googled my name and found that I have three googlegangers!"
    1. robertstevenson
I love googlegander. That's new to me. I'll try to work into a conversation with a checker at the grocery store tomorrow.
  23. focusorganic
Of the results on the first page for my name, only 2 are me. One is for a social bookmarking site and the other is a petition I signed. The first result for my name is for a florist in Lancashire.
  24. rightcommentary
    I have Google entries....

and a Wikipedia entry as well...

    Wow.. I feel special.
    1. trippi
      wow also a wikipedia entry!
  25. DrowseyMonkey
Why yes I did ... and funny enough, I wrote a post about it ...
    drowseymonkey.blogspot.com/2008/06/ever-google-yourself.html

If you don't wanna read the post, basically I found a headstone with my name on it. Oh yay.
  26. ModelElaine
My real name - I have 28 search results as of right now. They are all mine, as I have a very distinctive last name
  27. harleyblues
Yes.. but when I did it was in itallin and that person isn't me! lol
  28. trippi
Yes I've created an alert for my nickname and for my blogs!!
  29. Anok
Thankfully, NOTHING (relevant) comes up when I type my name in.

    Phew.

There are, apparently, some very famous women who share my name. Or maybe sort of famous, I had never heard of them but they are famous.
  30. aningeniousname
I legally changed my name to Wayne Newton just so I didn't feel left out of the whole name Googling phenomenon, but I still feel empty inside.
  31. cazion
I did, and I found few links showing my name most are coming from my profile in networking websites.
  32. ThriftShopRomantic
I did. There for a while there was a website by the boyfriend of the girl with my name, dedicated entirely to her and her many, many wonderful qualities.

It also had a "Friends" theme.

It sorta made me queasy, but I'm sure they're broken up now.
  33. ontheverge6
I have and thankfully I am not in any trouble!!!
  34. MadameX
Weirdly, I found a yahoo search for my name in my stats this morning and when I followed the link I found, among other things, that I could purchase an "I love Tiffany Sanders" t-shirt.
    1. Norski
How about that! Amazing, what shows up on the Web, isn't it?
  35. IanThal
Last year, I wrote about some of the things I've found goggling my name:

    ianthal.blogspot.com/2007/06/ian-thal-and-doppelgngers.html
  36. shagnast2100
yeah nothing great comes up though. I wrote a post about this a few weeks ago. check it

    www.thedailyshag.com/what-makes-you-shaggy-2/
  37. surveylady84
I've googled mine before, but nothing about me ever comes up. It's mainly about real estate agents or something. heh.
  38. looseink
Googling my name was how I determined my identity had been stolen and being used in ways I have never imagined. After getting the FBI involved, I had to change my identity and have been lucky enough to discover that Google does not recognize my new name and comes up blank. Okay, so I made that up. Googling my name scared me at first, but I did find some relatives via a 'family tree' website as a result, so it was all good.
  39. Norski
Yes. Turns out that there are quite a few of me. No identity theft - just that it's a not-uncommon name. What was really interesting is that one of the guys was (at the time) in roughly the same field.
  40. kat822
Yep and evidently I am a porn star...
  41. msbaby
Funny thing, I just did and find that I (could have?) attended and graduated from the School of Archaeology & Ancient History at the University of Leicester. I was actually amazed that so few people share my very short and common names. They are probably not cool enough to appeal to mothers of today.
  42. libdrone
my name is shared by an orthapaedic surgeon in Cincinnatti and you have to go to about page ten to find anything that's actually about me ;(
  43. jadeflower
Yep and I'm not there. I don't exsist. GREAT!
    1. Friday13
You gotta do something about it!
  44. anicha250
For some reason I am every where. If I Google my last name, it brings up my brother soccer team and his profile. My full name shows some old address that I have lived before but I get I have to pay to get my own information and a friend face book account that I was added too. I am not even on face book anymore. My user name on the other hand is everywhere and yes it brings all my profiles. I hate it. I feel like I can’t hide anymore lol
  45. 4Freedoms
Yes, I google it to track where I am.

    Al Link
  46. LynneaUrania
Sure. That's one reason I got into blogging and promoting a blog on BC.
  47. armywife65
just did and this is what I got from Wikipedia
Sheila is a common given name for a female, taken from the Gaelic name Síle/Sìle, which is believed to be a Gaelic form of Julia or Cecilia. Like "Cecil" or "Cecilia", the name means "Smart and Wise", from the Latin caecus. Is also the colloquial term for a woman in some Commonwealth countries.

hhmm I wonder if it's not too late to change my name but keep the "smart and wise" in.
  48. PeacefulWmn9
Yes, real name and screen name. I've been online forever. Both are there.
  49. lvs
often and i am happy with the result
  50. osquid
    Unfortunately my name is a company's name, so I can't buy a domain! =(
But I do appear in the top results for google, and I REALLY appear if you search omega squid, as I am the only omega squid on the entire internet! =D
  51. acebrock
3460 results with nothing about me if I google my real name (which is fairly common apparently) and resultsfrom acebrock.com acebrock.org,and my past come up when I google my username (Some memories I thought I repressed came back up, bleh)
  52. Mizdemeanor
i did just now...first 10 results and 6 of that refers to my website.. and i got top 1 and 2 then 4th... not bad i think..
  53. Mizdemeanor
    i made a mistake..i yahooed not googled..and i did it again after 7 hours...i'm no longer top 1 and 2.. just 3rd and 5th.. changes so fast..
  54. Mizdemeanor
i didnt make a mistake... i googled again... in english..and i was right.. i am indeed at Google.. i made a mistake of googling in het Netherlands and mizdemeanor is listed as a mare.. a racehorse hahahaha ....but a qualifying champ of a racehorse.. not bad either..
  55. livefree
All the time, I still cant get the top spot for my name, GRRRR!
  56. cko20
Definitely. I'm a celebrity in my own mind (j/k)
