My husband once saw a couple of pick-pocketers (2 women in their 40s) in action. They were following an elderly couple who just got off the bus (tourists) and were heading for their hotel. The elderly woman's handbag was slung onto her shoulder but it was behind her arm and it was open. The pick-pocketers were so intent on the woman's handbag, they didn't realised my husband was watching them. So my husband followed the pick-pocketers who were following the elderly couple.(he knew they were pick-pockets by the way they were looking at the handbag) My husband waited until he saw one of the pick-pocket's hand dipped into the handbag and then he grabbed her by the hair and slammed the pick-pockets head against the hotel door. The woman let out a scream that was like a banshee and the hotel staff came out and hubby did some explaining. The culprit was apprehended and my hubby became the hero of the day.
It could be really dangerous if you get involved if you don't know what weapons pick-pockets are carrying if they are carrying any.
Have you ever witnessed a mugging? Did you do anything about it? Or would you do something about it, if ever? Or have you ever been mugged? How did you deal with it?

Yes, and shootings and armed robberies and murders. Criminals are cowards, and every time I've run to someone's rescue the bad guy ran like a sissy.
One teenage robber was pretty surprised to have an old gal run him down and tackle him. I marched him back to the scene by the scruff of his neck and the seat of his pants, told him to apologize to the old man he robbed and return the money. He did. Then, the old man put him under arrest. Seems he was a retired sheriff :]
