Have you ever won anything?

Firstly I would like to say hi to everyone here at BC (or those that are reading this discussion at least!)as I have only just joined and this is the first discussion that I have started.
Basically, I am a self-confessed competition and freebie addict and will spend literally hours of my day entering and requesting comps/freebies (and now posting them to my blog!). Sadly I never seem to win anything and was wondering if any of you guys have and how you won it, or are you like me and are still waiting for that big win but carrying on regardless!

yup, i bought a pram and there was a raffle ticket given to you when you spend a certain amount and I won first place - prize was a Sony vid cam...really nice

same here! I also believe that there's no free in this World so I always throw away my raffle tickets.

one year I entered a beer company's Super Bowl contest and won a set of blow up lounge chairs with beer holders and footrests. -
I am a Casino Promotions blog owner - and as such I also play.. Uhm I can honestly say that I HAVE WON - and have won very big... But have paid big also.
I am running a contest for CASINO WINNING STORIES on my blog the prize is a 25.00 WalMart card. Not a lot - I know - Grin - but it's a contest that I'm putting on - so if you've ever won at an online/land casino - you could write a story - and have a chance of winning...
And I do enter contests when I have time also.

Why are you addicted if you never win?
Meanwhile, I have won a couple of blogging contests and that's about it, oh and a bag in a raffle when I was 5, but I think that was a fix.-
that is a good question!! I guess because I haven't won I enter more and more in the hope that I will. I guess it's a bit like doing the lottery, just because you haven't won it doesn't stop you buying the tickets in hope. And well done on your blogging contest wins, what did you have to do?

I mainly specialise in landscape stuff in the early years. So quite a few magazine competitions like UK photography price and artist review magazine as well.
A few local competitionss where I did a few street photography theme.
Some images being used by New York magazines as well.

I won a drawing contest when I was 9 and I won a school prize for community service...so, erm...go me!-

I won a Sony HD digital camcorder by being caller number something off of a radio a year ago. It was like the only time I even tried to call into a radio station too haha.-
well done samureyed that is a wicked prize. I must admit that I have always been a bit sceptical of phone ins so it's nice to know that they are won by real people.

Many years ago I won an all expenses paid trip for two to Club Med in Cancun for an entire week. All I did was submit my name and address to the company that manufactures Sassoon hair products, I was one of the 100 lucky winners. The trip was delightful!-

when I was a kid, I sold the most coupon books of any person in 4-H in our state, and so I won a cordless phone - which was a huge deal back then because most people didn't have cordless phones.
Apparently there was a REASON most people didn't have cordless phones, because the thing proceeded to catch on fire after a few months while I was using it.
I also won a drawing contest and got a year's supply of some sort of koala shaped cracker. The year's supply lasted about two weeks.-

I'm sorry but I had to compose myself before writing this because the phone fire made me laugh so much! Of course I do hope that you were ok and that the crackers tasted nice

well, the crackers were pretty good and the phone stopped smoldering after a while, but it just wouldn't work after that.

I used to win a lot of contests years ago in school for artwork and writing. I won an academic scholarship to university, a money prize from a local art academy, the top prizes in my high school for drawing and photography, and a national writing prize given to promising teen writers.
Since I graduated from college though, winning doesn't come so easily.
I won a custom office chair last year, that was exciting. -
I recited a 20 lined poem for a Kit-Kat! -
As a tween I won blue ribbons for my artwork and baking at the county fair. Woo-hoo!
I've won a few drawings - gift card to a music store, a place setting of my china, a few Lenox and crystal pieces.
And $10 on a $5 lottery ticket -

Thinking about it, I once won a trivia contest.
There were 50 multiple choice questions and whoever got more correct answers would win a $50 gift card from Amazon com

i won a dollar on a lottery scratcher yesterday. but then again the scratcher cost a dollar so i guess i didn't really win... -

Well I didn't win it but I received a free dog lead in the post this week for signing up to a free newsletter, this was a pretty good freebie so it kinda feels like a prize!!

I recently won a poker game. Too bad we weren't using real money.
I have won tons of advertising awards at my jobs too.
And I won 3rd place in a drawing contest in the 3rd grade.
I always tell people I never win anything, but I guess that's not really true. -

only thing I can think of recently is "Personal Blog of the day" on Fuel my blog !!! That was fun -
A couple years ago, I went to an event for pregnant women (being pregnant myself at the time). There was a drawing, and I ended up winning the second biggest prize. What was it? Something useful perhaps? No, it was a bright fuschia leather diaper bag with gold grommets, which some people must have like since they retail for $400 (?!?), but it was totally not my style at all. And besides, why would I want to cart around dirty diapers in a bag worth more than most of my clothes combined? I sold it on ebay for a little over $100. I should have asked for more. -

Last year i uploaded two small videos as a part of a contest organised by nokia. And my videos were selected by a singer to be part of the background of a song. And the prize was a nokia n 95 set. It was really free as i shot those videos out of curiosity and nothing. Further i had not an iota of feeling that those small series of snaps can bring such a goody. -
Only time I have won anything is in the casinos, I have won there frequently. I don't sign up for the online things though. Never won a raffle or anything. -
I won the lottery.
Born healthy, white, male and upper middle class in Southern Ontario Canada, right at the start of the greatest rise in living standards and opportunity in history. Jackpot!
Since then, I have not pushed my luck and do not enter any other contests...don't want to be greedy and all.-
LOL us Westerners don't like you guys much!! The 649 and Super7 are ALWAYS won in the east!!

I study Kempo Karate and I was in a few competitions. I won 4th place, 3rd place, and 2nd place in women's sparring. Never got 1st. My Dad on the other hand rocks. All his trophies are either 1st or 2nd. When we got our black belts, he was lumped in with 20 year olds for forms and took the gold! -

I won $2000 on a slot machine, but that was maybe ten years ago. I've also won a few times on the scratcher lottos....five dollars here and two dollars there.
I suppose I'd have to say, that I win every day though...I'm still here. I'm still alive, able to make my life just how I want it.
