I thought I had been in love a couple of times before.
I was married 2 times before.
BUT I WASN'T IN LOVE.
I am now - and what a freaking difference!-
Because I can't breathe without him - after 3 years.
Every other human being I've been with before it was just ok after 3 MONTHS...
But with my hubby now... it's like the earth stands still when we are together - it's like NO ONE ELSE MATTERS... - and the earth could fall apart (and trust me, it kinda did) but as long as we have each other - we're ok...
And - we can understand each other...
We can be in a crowded room - and still be alone totally together...
We blended instead of becoming separate individuals...
And my heart still beats fast when he is coming back when he leaves for an hour...
And I can't wait to snuggle in bed with him.
And I just breathe his scent in...
And when we touch there is electricity still...
And when I close my eyes and put my head on his chest - he can talk me to sleep...
And we laugh...
And we accept each others good points and bad points...
And I'm NOT tired of him...
And I'm not sick of dealing with things he does wrong - I just think of it as another experience...
And he makes my pains go away...
He keeps my mind occupied.
He makes me happy.
Without him - the world would be bleak.
He feels like he is my other half - my whole reason for existing.
And I love him - like I breathe.

Wagerwitch is quite right and puts it beautifully. Perhaps,it is a problem of semantics. Remove "falling" and replace it with "being"...being in love!
This is what the lovely Wagerwitch means. I have been married to the same woman for for 53 years. And, I have been in love with her for 53 years. My best. Count Sneaky. -
I struggled with this for a long time. But quoting Julian Barnes:
"Love may nor may not produce happiness; whether or not it does in the end, it's primary effect is to ENERGISE. Have you ever talked so well, needed less sleep, returned to sex so easily, as when you were first in love?...Shall we make this distinction: that love enhances the confidence, whereas sexual conquest merely develops the ego?"
I interpret that to mean that ultimately love is a teaching experience and it must be our one hope in life. If that be true, then yes, I've been in love.

I thought I have a couple of times....turns out that with my marriage I was in love with the idea of playing house...
The 2nd time I truly though I had met my soul mate....turns out he already had like 2 or 3 soul mates -
Being in love by definition excludes the idea of a true love
it is flimsy and fragile at the best of times, and i am sure everyone will have been there at least a couple of times before
enamored: "marked by foolish or unreasoning fondness"
P.S i just had a look at my original answer XD hilarious -
Recently in fact. It came out of nowhere and caught me completely off guard. You know, for years I have felt like there was something missing in my life and I have longed to fill that emptiness...that nagging whole in my heart.
One of my closest friends told me that you will find love when you least expect it and a great place to start looking was at the super market. Truer words were never spoken. There I was, standing in the frozen foods aisle when I first laid eyes on my true love, double fudge brownie ice cream. -
