Do you know of any successful blogs that raise funds for charity?

I want to emulate the best bits (if I'm able to) on a new project and I'd love your help.

As far as I'm aware, charities and blogs haven't had much linking, but perhaps you know better?

    David,

What kind of project are you working on? That's a neat concept, blogging for charity.

Hey Dave, well i know a couple blogs take donations and give to charity, daveolson.ca is one i visit often that raises funds to give to kiva.org, i also have a paypal donation button on my about page, and give all that money to charity.

    Hope it helps

It's a new blog called Clicks Donate, currently in its infancy:

    clicksdonate.com

I want to do something to give back, and will donate 100% of all proceeds to the charities that the readers choose.

If you have any suggestions they'd be extremely welcome.

Take a look at Joomla as it as all the component for donation some are free others are paid plugins.

    Thanks Pierre,

I'm looking into the concept through WordPress before a possible move to Joomla. I haven't worked with that before so it'd add considerably more time to the project.

    neat idea, david.

i was reading through the about section and caught a typo. you misspelled advertising:
"Finally, there’s some adverting from Google around this site – click on any of it and your donation is complete"

    just a headsup.

Thanks a lot for that. I'll change it now.

I've got a couple widgets I've made for various charities. ASPCA, Montana Met Project, Sucide Prevention Hotline, Global Warming, One Project. I don't write about it as a rule, but the widgets are there to bring awareness to the charities.
    1. DavidAirey
Wow, you have so many widgets in your two sidebars that I didn't know where to look!

Do you get many donations through them?

I have no idea if the charities do or not. I never see the money. I have yet to get a donation via paypal.

This is a great topic as we're just starting up our foundation where 50% of all cash raised through our flower and book selling n smelling website & blog will go to a worthy cause, still to be decided...

CSR / charities and communities are on the up for sure, just look at the amount of sharing through blogcatalog! Thank you 2 all.

I have 4 charities listed on my blog. Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans Health Systems and Monroe Animal League where a percentage of all sales go. I am a fairly new blogger but have had some play. Great idea to list charites. Every little bit helps. Altogether it will make a difference to someone's life. Nice topic. Maybe we can all hget together and link for charity somehow?
