The commercial is for the 2009 Honda Pilot. I am not on camera, I'm hiding behind the balloon basket with an inflation fan filling the envelope with air before every take (and there were a LOT of takes).

I posted the video on my blog. It's short (only 0:30) so take a look and let me know what you think:

Hopefully, Rooster, those folks weren't really naked there.

'Cause, ya know, if you were hiding back there behind the balloon, well, that's not such a great vantage point for you.

lol... yeah that might have not been pleasant
    2. DeadRooster
Actually, they were all pretty-well covered up with skin-colored garments. (thank God).

      Phew! Thank goodness for that.

So, when you become a big celebrity you're not going to let it go to your head are you? You are going to remember all of us little people right?
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Seriously-- CNN features and national television commercials all in one week... good grief. Pretty soon we'll have to visit his blog by appointment.

wrong placement sorry - but since i'm here...

      lol TSR

@Shiley--I am ALREADY a celebrity for hiding off-camera. No one hides as well as I do. LOL

@TSR--Maybe I should check to see if they are re-running my "Character Fantasy" episode (I'm actually on camera in that one!)

Um, isn't that you third from the left? You are quite the, um, adventurist.

No, it's not me, but when I first started getting sketchy details of what we were possibly going to be shooting (bad, incorrect details) I was hoping to be in the scene. The whole story of my enormous disappointment was chronicled here:

      That was a great post.

It was a great post. I like the details!

Now, you **could** have had your 5 second claim to fame had you simply peered over the balloon! :-)

Maybe you'll get new clients as a result, perhaps for the real James Bond movie! :-)

      @globalgirl,

      Thanks!

I didn't dare lift my head up in the scene for two reasons:

      1. An angry assistant director would have yelled at me with a rather powerful bullhorn.

      2. I don't want to be known as an aging nudist (at least not yet).
  4. jafabrit
    lol! that was super!
    1. DeadRooster
Thanks! It was a lot of fun.

You cann see the back of your butt
    1. DeadRooster
Can you? I didn't think it showed. I kept running it over to see if I could see it because with that fan there wasn't much room for me. Also, I'm 6'2" and thought the top of my head might show as well.
    2. crkian
Maybe ts not but you could make something up to tell everyone, make it so that you really have to look for it
    3. DeadRooster
Haha! What an ingeniously evil idea!

Why didn't I think of that?
  6. OutsideMyBrain
At least you didn't have to get in the Pilot with them. Thanks for the laugh
    1. DeadRooster
Couple of interesting things about that: when they shot the interior scenes, they used a completely different Pilot which was on the back of a truck trailer. Even though they shot the scene on the very same road as the exterior scenes, the wheels of the vehicle used to shoot the interior scenes never touched the ground--they just pulled it on a trailer.

There were so many shades, screens and cameras surrounding the "interior" vehicle that you almost couldn't see it from the outside.

How on earth did you fit your 6'2 frame, behind that balloon basket with all those other guys, It must've been very crowded..
    1. DeadRooster
Those other guys were *in* the balloon basket; I was *behind* the balloon basket.

By the way, it's hard to see in the commercial, but there were two women nudists as well.

Heeeeeeyy, I love that commercial. Bravo on your part, too. Filling that 50 times must have been hard work. Kickin' it with all those old naked folks all day long must have been fun.
    1. DeadRooster
      Thanks!

The biggest problem was when the wind kicked up and pulled the envelope off the hill where it was staked down. We had gusts of up to 40 mph that day.

    1. DeadRooster
Yeah, I think maybe the planets have been aligned for me lately

Well done. I watched it twice. I also saw it tonight on my television. I thought the humor was very nicely portrayed. Thank you for sharing.
    1. DeadRooster
      You're welcome.

It was a lot of fun.
