Healthy Debate - Verbal Attacks

There seems to be an awful lot of healthy debate on BC at the mo (love it) but when does healthy debate go too far and become an attack?
Some of the debates going on seem to be called verbal attacks when they do not seem this way to me while others that are not called verbal attacks could be seen as this (to me).
This does beg the question of what is considered a healthy debate and what is considered an attack, does this change depending on a persons outlook?
Note: I will not mention specific threads as this is a general overview not related to something specific.

Whether a debate is a healthy or a personal attack depends entirely on a person's POV. It is virtually impossible to draw a line that clearly separates one from the other.
My POV is to not take any debate on BC too seriously, BUT, that said, while it is impossible to know the thin red line beforehand, after a few verbal exchanges it should become clear to me whether I have stepped over someone else's line or not. However, once the line has been stepped over, in an online forum, it's rather impossible to set things straight again. It's a tricky situation. -
Really?
BC seems rather tame to me at the moment.
Speaking for myself I'd much rather see the debates than I would the 'follow me, I'll follow you' 'Increase your traffic in 3 easy steps' etc...
That's all crappy spam imo.
To be sure individuals can get out of hand, rude and cruel at times.
That's the chance we take when we enter a controversial thread I suppose.
I cannot think of one person in BC who I have disagreed with, sometimes heatedly, who I have been unable to be pleasant to in another thread and who also has been unable to be pleasant to me as well.
From what I can tell we all seem to take our BC slings and arrows in stride.
