As to introduce the developments around an Eternal Monument of Growing Creativity in South Africa.
It's a primary unusual destination (so don't go there).
The mission statement (see below contact details) says it all.
Added with (see homepage website):
Everything you always wanted to know about sex ....... between plants but never dared to ask (not a quicky ......... it takes a few hours)
and
The place where Klaas Voogds, James Bond and Albert Einstein meet
you must have the impression that we are weird but passionate.
You are right.
But if you read everything you will also find out that there is a serious undertone. We are NOT proud South Africans but these Dutch are proud in South Africa. We do not have the intention to change the world but in our place we do it our way.
And that's a bit different. Also true.
And we support the local community; also our way.
Soekershof Walkabout is a concept which is not suitable for mass tourism. We prefer good personal contact with our visitors and every visit starts with a firm handshake and people leave with the New South African handshake.
You've got it by now: Soekershof Walkabout is a fully 'deurmekaar' story.
And to get everything in order a visit takes at least 2 hrs. The average visitor need about 240 minutes and we had ones for who 28,800 seconds was not enough. That's why we also have so many regulars ......(especially for them we started our blog to keep them updated whenever they want without e-mailing newsletters etc.)
For the marketeers (relativily many of them visit Soekershof): 20% of the visitors are regionally sourced (accommodation etc.) and the rest find out via (a combination of) media, word of mouth and the Internet. Internet alone accounts for 20% but is almost always in addition to word of mouth and media. (rounded figures).
Just see what you can do with all this. And don't hesitate to ask us for a photo in case you need one.

that's one BIG intro and that's one BIG discussion to read. I am BIG scott, nice to meet you and your passionate wife, I hope to see the both of you around.
p.s. I like gardening, too! I've got a bunch of cactus and bonsai (and one bamboo) in my kitchen and I have some orchids in my den (and roses that were here when I moved, in my front yard- they are nice, too). And I love BIG friends. -
All the way from New Orleans; one of our favourit towns in the USA. Last time we stayed there in the old Landmark at the border of the French Quartier. Hot and humid in Summer maybe even too humid for many succulents. Great place for bamboos for sure.
Most favourit place for us in USA is Bernalillo, North of Albuqurque NM; followed by Naples in NY-state.
And yes, we also love BIG friends.
Oh ... uh .. we also have a second blogsite: soekershof.wordpress.com That's a service tool for our nursery customers and other succulent lovers. Still has to grow for the next years and so. Written primary for the south African market but quite a few things are also applicable in your area.
