I have just found out someone (A Blog Catalog Member) has hundreds (possibly 600) of backlinks to my site. Guitar Site

What are the implications of this

Nothing other than the possibility of getting traffic. Google doesn't penalize you for someone else linking to you. At best google simply ignores multiples in the same post.

Unless you have trackbacks listed for the links then he got nothing for it unless his blog turns up ahead of yours in a google search for your url, then he got something but not much.

That should give your PR a nice little shove if you're near the boundary between 3 and 4, or 4 and 5.

Well if you think his stuff is good, why not just give him a link back as a thanks.

Blogs get posted multiple times in back link checkers alot. Especially if you comment on someone's site or it gets added to someone's blog roll. I wouldn't worry about it unless he's giving you anchor texts with negative terms.
