Hi,

Using my panasonic DV camcorder, I recorded myself. I tried capturing the video onto windows movie maker or that other one muvee producer that came with my computer, but both seem to make the video I capture look squeezed, almost like if it was wider it would work. And it had nothing to do with trying to resize the window i was viewing the captured video in because I made it wider and it still had that squeezed look.

With some MyDVd software i found on my comp I was able to finally capture it without getting the squeezed look, but when i take that saved .avi file and import it into movie maker to edit it, I still get the squeezed look.

Does anyone know what's going on here? Please help! thanks.

Check the aspect ratio setting within the camera. That stretched look is an Anamorphic Image

(for example; when a circle Is Vertically Stretched and looks oval)

Unfortunately, I use FCP and have never played with Windows. Good luck!

never mind got the answer on yahoo answers, it was to go to tools >options >Advanced tab and then set it to 16:9 ratio, yehaa!

yeah I knew the ratio was 16:9 on my camera but I didn't realize where the setting was on the software. Now to see If I can change the camera's filming ratio, hmmm.
