How are high gas prices affecting you?

Topics: gas prices, high cost of gas
For me:
1) I have definitely cut down on driving. Even short trips, like to the grocers, I walk nowadays.
2) I can't bear the sight of filling up a tank. So I usually only put in like a 1/3 of a tank.
3) The roads certainly seem to have less traffic here in Chicago, and I don't see as many SUVs or trucks.
4) I'm looking for a more fuel efficient car.

The beauty is it is only an 5 mile drive to work
The pain is it is 70 bucks to fill my car
I dont remember traffic - since I left NY
and I am in marathon training so eventually I can jog into work...
and I was serious about the gas Robin -
Okay, all joking and Benny aside, maybe higher prices aren't so bad. Less pollution. People start to think before they all go in separate cars to the same place. People start thinking about alternative vehicles. Etc.

Agreed. Higher prices are going to stop all that waste.
Yesterday, I was putting some gas in the tank (only 3 gallons), and a young couple with a nice, big SUV, was cursing (loudly) their $100 (it was really $98) fillup. I guess now is the time to pay the piper - but I feel for the people who are really hurt by the prices, and had nothing to do with all those SUVs that wasted scarce resources. -

They are causing me to consider hypermiling - a serious change from a self described lead-foot such as me.
