   It depends on what kind of traffic you want.
   
   If you want CLICK EXCHANGE TRAFFIC - there are a ton of FREE click exchanges... However those are NOT quality hits.
   
   The best way to get traffic is to blog about something in a specific area - (example: blogging about cars - you talk about cars... Blogging about art - you talk about paintings....) but if your blog is all over the place - about all sorts of topics - then it will be hard to follow.
   
   SO find your niche.
   
   THEN - get listed in Google and other search engines. Submit your site...
   
   Maintain your keyword efficiency.
   
   Maintain your topics and post daily/weekly or monthly.
   
   Read other people's blogs in your niche area...
   
   Then make comments - -- NOT FOLLOW ME AND I WILL FOLLOW YOU comments... But comments that pertain to their sites and their posts... And if they like your comment - they will come and look you up...
   
   And that's about all you can really do..
   
   After awhile - you can offer link exchanges with other blogs or put them on your blogroll and you can ask them to put you on theirs.
   
   Make friends - pass the word around...
   
   Put your name and blogsite in EVERY email as a signature.
   
   Get active in social networking (DO NOT SPAM THEM BY LEAVING YOUR LINK EVERYWHERE - instead - become involved.)
   
   Get active on Twitter - and put out concise information about your site and what your activities are.
   
   Follow others - and actually pay attention to what they are saying... And then - before you know it... Youll have a ton of followers...
   
   AND you know what?
   
   Eventually your traffic WILL increase!

   I don't know me how old your blog is and what you have done so far to attract traffic but I'll try to give you some useful advice.
   
   Blog Catalog delivers targeted readers to blogs, not just a flood of indiscriminate traffic that creates a high bounce rate.
   
   Targeted readers are far more likely to:
   ----read more than one post when they visit;
   ----become faithful readers;
   ----leave meaningful comments that expand your knowledge base;
   ----become subscribers;
   ----recommend your blog to their friends.
   
   Invest time and energy into creating to an informative BC Profile, an accurate Blog Description, appropriate Directing listing categories and tags for your blog.
   
   Some traffic promotion advice
   (1) Write well and publish regularly. Keeping your blog updated with fresh and informative content will maintain reader interest.
   (2) Reply to every comment.
   (3) Link to your faithful readers' related blogs and avoid both link exchanges to unrelated blogs and reciprocal linking. Google and Technorati no longer assign authority to links to unrelated blogs. Both are looking for natural linking patterns.    I found Qondio to be good for me as I have a website I need to promote. All you need to do is contribute content to Qondio, such as intelligence about people, places, things or companies around you.
   
   the content must be original and you can post it on your own site once it has been reviewed. So that's what I did. As in the great tips above, I wrote about what I blog about. (fractals) The beautiful thing is each time you add content, you get a massive backlink to your site, And you earn reward points for your intelligence - which helps your website rank better in their directory, This gets you targeted traffic. Also if you are an adsense publisher you can generate advertising revenue from the page carrying your content - as well as the visitors.

   LinkReferral is my favorite way to get traffic (www.linkreferral.com/adwel.pl?oldrefid=260854) You get traffic, other users reviews your site, and you can browse other similar blogs you might want to do link exchanges with. It's really nice because it's not all spammy and full of adware like a lot of the other link sites. I've had really good luck with it, and of course it's free.
