Hi,

I've got my blog for about a month now and I have got some visitors coming to my site (about 150 visitors in total in a little under a month).

I'm using the following 'tools' to get traffic to get to my site: Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook. I also visit my Blog Catalog friends' sites.

From the bit of traffic that I'm getting, about 30% of them is returning. I would like to get that up to at least 50% as well as increase the amount of visitors. (I'm not sure what's a normal percentage)

I also only had about 2 people comment on my blog posts so far and would like to get people to either comment, retweet, digg or otherwise share my content.

Does anybody have any suggestions for me and my site?

I welcome any feedback!

Good content, a steady write up daily or every other day and a readership base - comment on other people's blogs- network more and you'll find that people will connect if they find genuine interest in your blog.. but it's all about the content and quality. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I am continually trying to make my content better. I hope that will help indeed
I don't really network and comment that much so that's something I will start doing more.
      Thanks for the tips!

By the way - I just visited your blog - good stuff! Cookie monster rules! But I cannot believe it has been 40 years! That in itself made me feel a bit seasoned.

Haha, me too, but I don't mind getting older (yet)! And you gotta love the Cookie Monster!

Thanks for the feedback. Which blog directories are most important to submit to?

Thanks for the link. I read your article and found it really useful. You reminded me that I have to add some alt tags to my images, I keep forgetting that! Will do that in a few mins! Thanks for the feedback!

You may find some insights in these 2 posts about blogging strategies & goals (spotlights one blog but suggestions are generic. focus on an aspect, prioritze and commit to a small goal).

You have quite a good blog there tjongolongo. I'd definitely listen to what the others have been saying.

I believe that you'll do great. You have a writing style that's appealing, you're knowledgabele and witty. Just don't quit! Write on a constant basis, connect with your readers through various channels like Twitter, etc. and in time your efforts will pay off. There's really no such thing as instant success, especially in blogging.

Keep doing what you're doing and everything will fall in place. Money, commentors/visitors and followers will be a by-product of your efforts. Good luck mate!

Thanks for the compliment and feedback. So I guess I need to keep working on my content and basically, be patient. I'll do that!

I received the following comment from the user Babe (www.blogger.com/profile/03630705012349798042) on my blog:

"You have posted to the Blog Catalog forum asking for assistance with methods of increasing traffic to your blog. I believe this thread does contain the help you need www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/i-cant-get-visitors#comment_1147679

Best wishes for successful blogging and effective networking."

I rejected the comment on my blog because it wasn't relevant to the topic of the post.
I am however thankful for the comment and would like to thank Babe for the input!

This thread indeed has very useful information. Thanks again to Babe for the input!
