Just place digg submitter on your post. :-D

Once it is on digg promote the hell out of it. Get a few hundred digg friends who will help promote you.

The first problem with digg is unless you belong to the good 'ol network the chances that you will front page with anything you submit are next to nothing. I have stopped submitting anything at all to digg since doing so is a waste of my time and efforts. That said I get a few of my personal posts a week submitted by my friends still and get some hits.

The second problem with digg is most of the diggs you get will not be from anyone who actually visits your site. My best post ever on digg got 700 diggs and 3000+ comments in about 18 hours, then it front paged and skyrocketed. The problem was when I went I started checking for site traffic I found I got a grand total of 59 inbound hits from digg, prior to front paging. I got mad hits after that, but up until you become popular digg doesn't do a lot for your traffic, even in the good old days. It is worse now.

The last issue I have with digg is how obsessive and competitive many of the active diggers are. The last month I actively submitted stuff (not my own sites) every day I could guarantee 50 to 100 diggs then the bury brigade would come in submit the very same link and force my story submission out of competition. This is actually against digg rules, but hey what do they care since most of the people who pull that crap are Darren Rose's personal friends.

If you want social network traffic you are much better off working stumbleupon and reddit.

Actually, Digg can be powerful tools to advertise if you have a lot of humble friend whom willing to share your article, and since there is related post list below of your digg post, your digg post can also get reviewed.

I also hear from other bloggers that Digg is infested with right-wingers who gang up to bury stuff they don't agree with. Don't use Digg myself and still enjoy blogging. It's been shown that the most you can hope for from Digg is 69 minutes on the front page, thousands of hits for that time, no comments, then back to the regular pace.

Digg is most definitely where the right wingers congregate when it comes to social networks. There are considerably more on the left there, but like in the physical world the left on digg is a fractured non-cohesive bunch of self-centered self-important pompous asses who haven't figured out the value of standing together. Simply put very few of the pro-gay or pro-environment leftists will stand with say the free speech left wingers who are getting trounced by a united right wing group. Why free speech isn't there issue and can't see where someone fight for the right to speak their mind enters into cause.

As for what you get out of those 69 minutes of fame. If you advertise with adsense that 20k or more hits isn't chump change usually. If the post is indicative of your blog you will guarantee yourself several knew readers, if not feed subscribers. The big thing it does is gets you added to del.icio.us in mass quantities by the well meaning folk who always think they will come back to your blog and read more later.

Can't you just hold them down at gun point and make them digg your article, seems like an easier and faster solution.

      hehehe

That's not a bad idea actually The concept of these sort of sites was supposed to be discovering and sharing websites. I hate this "if you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" you get on likes of Digg.

I have skipped Digg all together, because internet marketing related articles are not popular there.I use StumbleUpon instead.

    really good question

you could start by writing good quality stuff
  12. technoguy
In order to get quality diggs, try to write quality posts which can really attract users. You should have atleast 15-20 top quality posts which are like pillars for your blog which means they will force readers to come back to your blog.

To cite an example, let me tell you that I am an iPhone lover and I created a post technology-boost.blogspot.com/2008/12/six-must-have-iphone-applications.htm... on Very useful iPhone applications. To my surprise, I got 10000 hits inside 2 days for this post...

That day onwards, I am updating my Tech blog daily and getting decent amount of visitors on daily basis I will definitely say "Content is king"
