it's not as hard as it sounds gordy...you just focus on the positive rather than the negative and, maybe most importantly, be grateful for the blessings in your life...
personally, i don't watch the news and i rarely read a newspaper...
works well for me...in fact, i've had a couple of people lately tell me i'm the most positive person they know...
it's fabulous! -
How to stay positive? I have a tough love attitude: get over it! Feeling sorry for one's self is a waste of time and really when you think about it- very selfish. When you start to feel down, go volunteer your time at a hospital or a homeless shelter or the animal shelter. Considering the alternative, be grateful for what you have. That's it!

When things suck for me, I try to remember that there are others who are worse than me. I may hv the flu and feel like shit, but someone out there is suffering from cancer and won't live for long. If I'm hungry, there's a kid in Africa with nothing to eat for days. Of coz at times I'm so way down in the dumps that I need a garbage man to come scoop me up but those times only come once a month

No matter how low a point in your life you think you are, there is someone worst off. At least you are breathing and alive, so be grateful of that.
For anything negative, there is also a positive side to it. Focus on that, leave the negative one alone.
Negative thoughts also tend to be in the past, you can shape you own bright future by staying positive.
All else fails, come to my blog and you will be transformed

Positive is so limiting everyday I work on finding out who I am, accepting myself and others, I work on having compassion and empathy, I work on living for the moment....positive thinking to me is a easy way out of doing all the hard work

I disagree with robinj also, the easy way out is being negative, people just thinking of themselves, complaining because they are not being spoiled and get there own way.
Sure, cultivating the good qualities is hard work but the qualities will not be achieved by negative thinking.
If a person is thankful for even the "bad things that might happen, goodness always follows with being positive.
People that complain just makes themselves miserable. Don't forget the Israelites complaining to Moses, they did not benefit from it.
I'm with Lisa, I don't watch the news or watch any TV at that, or read the newspaper.
Thankfulness and Gratitude is the key, and having the "want" to help the stranger. -
Sometimes growling or yelling out loud helps break the tension. A few healthy tears is a good way to cleanse. Take a shower or a wind bath and release all negativity away from you. Meditation helps.
The news and headlines, even the internet headlinesÂ…try not to look at them. Pray for others and be grateful for what you have.
It's like this. When I used to hit the stage, night after night, and the musicians (they are a variable and emotional lot) didn't have smiles on their faces, I would have to smile for six instead of just one. I would cajole them and the audience into a party mood. I would have to lift their energy and spirits. This was especially hard to do when there seemed to be gloom around everyone. In most cases it worked and the club atmosphere would change for the better.
When you're down it's okay, it's natural. Picking yourself up out of the doldrums is something that takes practice. Smiling is a beginning and writing your feelings down is so therapeutic that you can wad up the paper and throw it all away.
I am not saying to neglect the world or not try to do something to help others. I am saying that after you have helped and prayed, turn it over to God and be the best person you can be. Share your talents with the world and project love.
www.gratefulness.org Go light a candle and see if that doesn't help.
Also look up www.biorhythm.com as see if that helps answer some questions for you. -

I love that everyone has their own truth and is sharing it that is how you fill your spiritual toolbox by finding out what works for you not by accepting some one elses truth as your own. When someone challenges my perspective that helps me to grow and learn and keeps my view from becoming too narrow so thank you to everyone for giving me that gift

There's a Greek saying that is roughly translated to say:
If you have a problem and there's a solution you have no reason to worry and if you have a problem and there's no solution you have no reason to worry.
Pretty simple outlook - if you can fix it then do so, if you can't then move on. Now I'm craving ouzo for some reason...
