How can you tell when a man is for real about a woman and not just looking for sex? What are some signs that he is in it for more?

Joking aside, the quiet, nerdy people usually don't feel that it's worth it to put forward the effort for casual sex. Look out for psychopaths, though.-
This is true, most of my more intelligent friends do not cruise around just looking for sex. -this however does temporarily change when lots of alcohol is introduced. -

What you're essentially asking is how do you know if a guy likes you enough to play along enough to cement a bond so that hopefully later, you'll do him without thinking he's a jerk like those other guys.

Yes, you are so right. I think that sex conversation is a clear signal. The part that is so confusing is I have found that men will say anything and do anything to get into your pants. Sometimes they do they opposite and never bring up sex which is just another way to get into your pants.

its tricky because most of the time i can point out if hes only after one thing.. sex. but sometimes it really hard to tell espeically when you talk and you get to know each other more.. its almost as if.. thats there way of getting you haha you know what im talking about.. -
you can't really.
it's a matter of being careful and at the same time trusting your feelings, i think.
but there's no science to it.
a lot of guys will definitely lie to get a woman in bed and a lot of them (ok, us!) are very good liars.
so i have no hard advice for you on this.
go with your feelings.

Don't think anyone, man or woman would be very happy if you already established a sexual relationship, and then stop. They would interpret this as a symptom of something much larger. Similar like not speaking to each other, only much, much worse.
However, if you establish a bond first, and they stick around for that, would be another story.

I reckon if it is if he is willing to wait, if he is just in it for the sex then he won't be prepared to wait until you are ready, he'll get bored and probably leave sulking! If he keeps pushing it or uses the 'I'll leave if you don't' card then he's not worth it. You are worth the wait!!!-

Just till it feels right, I think if either side feels pressured into it, they won't enjoy it and that in itself may result in a relationship breakdown.

-The best way to "tell"... ask him. You will drive yourself bat shit crazy looking for the "signs" he is into you. Just ask him. Communication is the best way to find out if he is potential boyfriend material, or a sex-with-benefits situation. -
Well the one thing to look for is he makes sexual remarks right off that bat.
There's a guy who's a dork and you sould probably say "later". -
if you're looking for a realtionship he's probably only in it for the sex... and the same goes for when you're just looking for sex. -

Just as not all women are the same, not all men are the same. My wife's female friends have commented to her about how 'lucky' she is to have found me, but honestly, I consider myself EXTREMELY lucky to have found her!
I mean, when you go to something like a Sci-Fi or gaming convention as an extended date and she disappears to spend most of the weekend with her friends, then comes to you on the last day apologizing for abandoning you and is truly sorry for leaving you alone in a hotel full of strangers, then maybe you've just found the right person for you. I did... and now she's my wife and we blew past the '7-year itch' without even a scratch. -

Why is just wanting sex not considered being real? He demonstrated what he wanted...now you make the call.
It doesn't get much more straightforward or "real" than that.
I think the question you really want to ask is, "how can you tell when a man wants to be emotionally attached to you". The other phrasing seems to indicate a belief that only wanting sex is abnormal, when that supposition is really an opinion. -
Wait a minute. We're talking about guys here right? When is it ever not about sex? That just goes against our nature. It just ain't gonna happen.
