link exchanges and social bookmarking sites are the best. also, if you post on a forum, use your blog link as a sig.
And, I've noticed Yahoo Answers as a great instant traffic source. Find questions related to your blog topic and post an answer to a question and your blog link. You can easily get 100 people from there. -

Building traffic is a marathon, not a sprint.
In other words, it takes time and effort to develop steady traffic. Over time, your traffic will build and compound. By compound, I mean that as you become established in the blogosphere, word of your blog and your unique brand will spread and more people will visit your blog.
This is what I'd suggest that you do to develop traffic.
Comment on blogs within your niche for starters. Comment on two blogs today. Tomorrow, comment on three. Build up to five blogs a day that you comment on. When you comment, join the conversation. Reply to other commenters and engage the blog's author if possible. People will read your comment and visit your blog.
Comment on blogging forums. Join at least three blogging forums. I'd recommend Authority Blogger Forums, Bloggeries, and Aussie Bloggers Forum, among numerous other excellent blogging forums. Also comment on this forum. Join the conversation. Link to a pertinent article on your blog, if you can.
Simply do the above CONSISTENTLY every day. If you do this, you'll see your traffic increase. Your traffic will increase and compound over time as you CONSISTENTLY comment on blogs and forums.

Hey there! Well I looked on all three of your blogs, and right off hand, I have to say, I wouldn't go back. That's not to be rude persay, I just don't like big banner ads, it brings back nightmares of pop=ups and things in my head. It turns me off of your blog automatically, if the banners and extra content that isn't necessary on your blog, were suddenly not there, I could pay more attention to the actual content of your blogs. If you want to keep advertising, then I suggest you make it alot smaller, and make it tune into your blog design banner. But you keep the faith. Hard work really pays off in the end.

Well, this is what brings my most loyal traffic. I choose a hotbutton story that hasn't really surfaced yet in the news and report the story followed by my sharp opinion.
I reduce the opinion and then go share that opinion on all the other blogs that are talking about the same thing. Maybe 50 blogs or so.
I concentrate a lot on blogs that aren't getting many comments, but have good site ranking. Then I join in on the high traffic services like TOPIX. ABC News allows posting on it's news sites now.
This helps them spark commentary on their blogs, and it gives the reader another relevant site to go to if they want to explore the topic further at your blog.
It's a way to banner share with other sites with words instead of tacky advertising. It's free, and it takes more readers deeper into the blogosphere.
This brings you traffic, after you've helped generate it for others...
There are a few blog owners that don't want to participate in this, and that should always be respected. To date, I've cross exchanged traffic on 1000 blogs the past month. Only 3 sites opted out of the traffic philosophy.
It seems like something that would really get new viewers moving through blogs instead of the main stream press alone. That's a great way to get your word out to others on a near equal par with some of the mass media blogs that don't allow posting at all.
Last month I was interviewed by NPR about my blogging of the Megan Meier case. I was a big advocate of the Meiers cause and distributed my opinions to blogs.
I had no idea that their news services were going to pick up one of my posts and turn it into a news story. I was only two weeks into shaping my blog. A brand new blogger who just started hammering out his strong opinions.
The news services are listening to the blogosphere - as even it realizes now the unlimited ability for blogs to exchange information.
Getting back to traffic. What better traffic can you get that's better than the new readers that will start participating in the blogging community. That's how I learned about blogging.
It's probably the best traffic builder I can think of.

I thought I was doing so good now that my affiliates are earning me a couple of hundred a month, but my traffic is not that large. I find that I get more when I am interacting with other bloggers through good link exchanges and comments on their blogs. And when I really work at a post, I find that that link is put in forums by other people for me! I love when that happens. It's made me put more effort into my posts. Slowly, but surely, I'm getting there. Postings like this one will make a huge difference as there are so many people that are interested in the same thing. I use a live traffic feed on my blog to tell me where my traffic is coming from. I wish you great success!

I have been blogging for about six months now and what I realized the main way to get traffic is to have good content. Before I started my blog, I had read that content is the King. This is right. If you do not have good and origional content, then no one will visit. Here I don't want to say you don't have good content. I havent read any of your blog post. I just have quick look.
In your second blog, do not use date as headline of your blog. This will confuse your readers. -
Mybloglog.com, blogcatalog.com, linkreferral.com, entrecard.com, digg.com. Those are the best sites that help me. My average traffic now? 100 a day. It is pretty cool.

Frequency of posting is often overlooked as a factor. It's like a newspaper. The New York Times has a daily circulation of 1,000,000. The Hog Jowls (Alabama) Bugle has a weekly circulation of 5,000. 'Nuff said?
I am lucky, one of the exceptions, I guess. I do fairly well even though only posting about once a week. -
After looking at your blogs, I realized that you really need to change the design of your page. People respond to visuals, so it's important to have a clean layout. It's almost as important as having good content.
Second, get rid of all the ads. If you're just starting out, you should be focusing on building your content. I know the wait is frustrating, and you want to make money, but without a good amount of traffic, the ads are pretty useless.
Third, you have to be consistent with your posting. Keep writing!
Those are the three basics that you really need to work on. Join other blogger networks, and look for other bloggers that write about the same things you do. Network is key!
All this has worked for me so far. Good luck, and let me know if there is anything I can do to help. -
I've seen my traffic steadily increase. What used to be my high a month ago, is now a low.
Participate in forums, discussions, keep updated with the blogs you regularly read. Comment on other blogs that are related to yours with relevant and insightful comments. Find new blogs every day with content related to yours (I set up keywords with google alerts). I try to leave at least 10 comments a day.
If you find great articles talk about them and link back to them but don't beg for link exchanges, do it out of the goodness of your own heart. You'll find people are flattered and they'll start becoming a regular reader. Every time I write a post I search within my google reader to see if my favorite blogs have talked about the same subject so I can reference them if necessary.
Also be aware of what people are searching for when coming to your site. For example, before I wrote up a book review for A Thousand Splendid Suns, I knew that people were coming over to my site with keywords of quotes and A Thousand Splendid Suns. I made sure I mentioned my favorite quote and now half of my traffic is from that one post alone.
Having great content goes without saying.
I've only been blogging for about 4 months, but this is what I've learned so far. How am I doing? Any other great ideas? -
I have lots of suggestions and you can find them after a visit to

I can't list all the details here as I've written numerous articles on the many different ways to increase your traffic. This is just one very comprehensive article.
I am sure you will find something that is helpful. If not let me know and I'll see if I can pull some more specific article links.

Everyone here has very good advice; I created a Squidoo lens to bring more visitors to my blog; it's a bit new so I can't really say if it's effective but I try to join in as many squidoo tools as possible (groups, lensrolling...I guess the same strategy can be used for blogs too).
There are hundreds of things one can do to increase traffic but noone has time to do them all; just read lots of blogs on SEO and traffic building and apply the methods you are most comfortable with. -

"Put your eggs on many baskets" -this is for ads. But for blog, it will be better if you put your whole effort in one blog. If you had done that, now you could have 40-50 posts on your blog. Running 3 blogs at a time requires a lot of hardwork. I tell you Im a new blogger and my blog is only 1 and a half months old. I did these things for my blog:
1. I read many of blogs about getting traffic and money making tips.
2. Content is king, quality and quantity. I used to write unique and short(300-400 words) posts.
3. SEO, posted my url to major search engines. I used to update my blog regularly. Search engines like regular updates.
4. Joined many communities and bookmarked my site to social utilities. Made friends in Facebook and asked them to visit my blog. Joined this discussion and this is also a great source of my traffic.
5. be kind to online people and this really works.
6. Left backlinks on everywhere I go on the net.
7. Leave positive comments on other blogs.
8. Dont put so many things on your blog sidebar like extra ads, clocks, widgets, news, slideshow, other thing which slow down your blog.
9. Choose simple and professional template.
10. Dont trick people by telling unreal things like, the top secret, get $$$ in the next 10 minutes, the great tips.
11. Dont tell people to click your ads.
12. Be patient. -
I'm still putting much effort on one of my blog. After 3 weeks I still got no pagerank
. Anyway, work is still in progress, and as a fellow blogger, I can offer a few tips that worked for me:
1. Content, content, content..
2. Join linkreferral.com - although clicks feel too generic, some member bloggers there are probably really interested on the content of your blog!
3. Blogging directories and social bookmarkers submission.
4. Visit related forums and blogs and do HONEST comments! and don't forget to put your URL in the sig.
5. submit sitemaps to major search engines
6. Write articles (I write at ezinearticles.com)
7. use feedburner.com
8. Make a lens in squidoo.com
9. Offer something (or many things) for FREE
10. Building traffic while you sleep?? NEVER HAPPENS - yes, traffics will come while you sleep, but to build traffic is real work - do it constantly and patiently.
There's there. I hope it works
