Sorry to bug but I don't understand why my Alexa ranking is 8,000,000+.

Can anyone help me with that?

Your help is appreciated.

I think this really comes down to traffic and how popular your search terms are. My 0.2 cents

      Thanks krzkrzkrz,

So there's nothing I can do it's automatically configured. I don't need to sign up or put the traffic analyser on my blog?

8M plus is OK. I started with an Alexa ranking of 23M. It soon came within 10M. Took some time and traffic to get within 3M.

I now have a ranking of 1.2M (3 months) and 422,000 (for the week). Ranking is improving, but of course, traffic is the key.
It took me 4 months to get from 23M+ to 1.2M. How old is your blog?

Getting traffic is what you need. It needs to be consistent too. If you need traffic generation tips, there is a lot of information on BC if you did a search.

    Thanks to you both.

It's approx four weeks old and needs followers to succeed. It's an experiment to make a movie from a blog and I hope to fund the below the line costs with the blog - nuts I know - but part of the challenge.

If a higher Alexa rank is that important to you, go put up entrecard on your site. The traffic numbers kind of inflate as alot of entrecard people seems to have the alexa toolbar installed. It'll probly drop to under a million in a few weeks at the most.

While the traffic is drive by for most things, sometimes every once in a blue moon you get a new reader.

    Thanks for the advice Xight!

It must be as important to you... your ranking is 415,838 Very nicely!

Get traffic from various sources ---> Search engines, referrals from other websites etc. Even if you have a huge traffic if it's all coming from Entrecard, there's little effect to your Alexa Rank.

Referrals has got to be the hardest!! How would you approach that?

      Thanks again for the info!

How about wait longer than bloody four weeks.

      I'm way too impatient!

Your blog wasn't as crap as I expected it to be, in fact its a pretty cool idea.
    3. geekfabrique
      Thanks crpitt,

What gave the impression it was going to be crap? Maybe I'm marketing it incorrectly?
    4. crpitt
Normally when someone starts a thread like this and states that their blog/site is only four weeks old, it is generally a god awful moneymaking adsense crap blog.

It would of been better to talk about what your blog is actually about and not about the Alexa ranking.

Thanks I'll give it a go

Has anyone ever sent you a donation? How many visitors a day do you get?
    1. geekfabrique
Just over a hundred unique a day, I think... Google Adsense figures, so not sure. I have about 36 subscribers to the feed (feedburner). No donations, people just don't want to do that and that's fair enough. But the author of the book contacted me and endorsed the blog/film and I have interest state side from some financiers. So three weeks ago it was nothing, now I feel certain it will be made

Don't worry about Alexa, if people like your blog, they'll tell other people.
    1. bradhart
Correction, it isn't important if your advertisers don't use it.

What no one has mentioned is Alexa finds it more important that your visitors use the Alexa toolbar and they want your visitors to come from somewhere with a better ranking than you.

You used to be able to redirect your site with an Alexa redirect which made it look like your visitors were coming from Alexa itself, a big plus. You can't do that now. In fact there are very few sites you can and if anyone mentions their names or how to do it you need to have the crap smacked out of you for stupidly opening your yap. Look around and find one you can use and then keep your mouth shut.

Phew! That just flew straight over my head.

      Time to google.

Install Alexa toolbar and write an article on teh same or promote your user to surf sites using alexa toolbar.....This is the best way to increase your rating...as more user visit your site using alexa toolbar more of your site rating on alexa will increase!!

I am guessing your blog is new. Don't worry about it. The more you write, the more people will come. The most people come, the lower your Alexa

My blog is new too, about 3 weeks old and the other is almost 1 month old. I was amazed I my alexa ranking is very far from reality. My blog was ranked on the 30,000,000 you can check it. The other blog I made about 2 months old now with 2 posts only it got about in the 13th million rank in alexa in 3 weeks time.
