I have been on this site and technorati and fuelmyblog.etc...and I am not getting any "fuel", Authorit, or anything!! I have tried to be active in the communities and help others out, but i am still at the bottom!! Any thoughts?

My blog is retailbizblog.blogspot.com

My only idea, is it seems to a "one-of-a-kind" type of blog...My hits are ok, does my content suck that bad??!!

Modify your template. Make it unique!

Add some images in the posts!

    Add social bookmarking buttons!

And ... try blogging for more than two months!

Oh, I see you're using AddThis. So, forget the third line.

How do I get to the top, when i am on the bottom?!

    1) Get an avatar (regardless)

    2) topple everybody in this pile and climb to the top

    3) start your own pile and be the top

Sometimes people aren't interested in the subject matter.

Take my blogs for instance. How many people care to find out how citing our nations founding fathers effectively disproves conservatism as an American political philosophy.

    not very many, it seems

      actually, that sounds interesting

This is just my opinion, but your blog *looks* quite boring to read. The template and the colors are pretty ugly and plain, there are no pictures or anything that would draw a reader's interest; it's just plain text straight up.
Your content might be awesome, but if it looks like a phonebook, people probably won't bother to find out if it is. Spice it up a bit. Make the blog look more interesting, so people will want to stay and read. As for getting traffic in the first place, check out the thread "any-tips-for-blog-promotion" here on blogcatalog. It shouldn't be too hard to find. Plenty of good advice there.

Thanks...I kinda thought my blog was a bit dull (understatement), but Blogger only offers templates that "look like everything else" or my visual masterpiece!! Stay tuned...BizBlog will be undergoing a SERIOUS visual makeover!! Any tips on reference sites? Or template sites?

If you're comfortable editing the HTML/CSS code, you can do all kinds of things with blogger. There are plenty of reference pages on the net to help with this. Under the "Layout" tab, click on "Edit HTML" and start editing. Just remember to download the template (just click on the link on the same page). That way you can always just restore the layout in case you mess it up. I did this myself with my Rainhat blog. It's basically a Scribe template (the same as yours) that I changed the colors and layout of.
With a bit of pictures and a decent graphical editor you can do all kinds of cool things.

There are tons of free templates to download as well, to either customize or use as-is. Just google "free blogger templates" or something and you'll find loads of them.

Alright, I have completed the "facelift"(although I am still trying to get my archive back...any tips?) I had to do a little code tweeking to get things how I wanted them, but overall...I am pleased. Let me know what you think!!

Thanks Timethief(again)!! Glad you like it :-) You wouldn't happen to have any idea what is going on with my archive? I can't seem to get it back, and without it, I am afraid I will have to abandon this template! I like the excerpt thing...that will actually help short term with my archive problem, but I also like the feedback I saw in that discussion you linked to, so I will probably keep doing it.

I got a lot more subscribers after I switched from Blogger to Wordpress (free templates, must pay for hosting). Be sure to use the All-in-One SEO plugin if you do make the switch.

    I would recommend two things.

    1) You list passion in your about me. Add in some passion to your writing. Easier said than done!

    2) Follow Disney's advice that is in one of your posts, ""Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends." Also easier said than done.

I guess there is a third. "The vision for this Blog is to be a resource and interactive forum for anyone curious about retail. I invite all comments, questions and stories." This is in the passive voice. You can't draw people passively. "BizBlog blows the socks off mundane retail. Free resources here! Enjoy the feast!" Something like that.

Your blog template looks clean and inviting. Keep up the good work.

Content is key. The best way to go about it is looking for a need and filling it!

What is your goal with your blog? Where do you see it going as you move forward? Ultimately, is your goal to reach other bloggers or is your goal to reach an audience?

You'll have to understand, also, that if there is no need for your blog, then there is no need for your content. If there is no need for your content then there will be no audience.

Write some articles about the topic and submit them to article sites to see if folks actually come to your site through those ezines. I see that you might have been doing that already. One thing to consider is how targeted is your content? I see that you might be covering a very broad subject. Perhaps sticking to something more specific within that subject might bring you particular type of readership.

When you are at the bottom, the most important thing is to know if there is a need for the information you have to offer and then finding the right places to get your targeted audience over to your site.

    Respectfully,
