So we all know that most blogs are judged by their comments. Everyone harps on them, and everyone tries to get everyone else to comment on their blog. So how do you like to comment. Do you only comment to advertise your blog? Do you comment based on the content of the post you read? Or do you just like to voice your opinion no matter what?

I comment based on the post, and typically it's a blogger I'm checking out because I might want to read them regularly, because they've visited me and left a comment, or because I already DO read them regularly.

I don't really comment to advertise my blog.

I don't comment to advertise my blog ... I comment based strictly on the content of the post. It's either a blog I visit regularly or a blog I found because that particular blogger commented on mine or it's a blog from a blog train that I visit.

I make it a point to really look for something worth commenting on and if I find one, I read and re-read the post so that the writer will understand that I have taken the time to digest what he wrote and I'm not just trying to be patronizing. Then I make my comment using the most diplomatic language and bearing in mind always that writers by nature are generally sensitive.

I jdon't judge blog by the comments, its the content for me. And I don't comment just to advertise my post, no do I have all the time to check all who commented on my blog. Yes I do visit their blog depending or according to the comment they made.

I love to comment other post but most of the time time does not permits me.

I comment based on the post. While I do, usually, visit the blogs of people who comment on mine, I don't comment unless I actually have something to say.

great points from everyone. The reason I brought up the topic is because I get comments on some of my blogs from time to time that just seem so fake. Not that they're spam, but they don't have much to say. Like alot of you have said I try to comment back on people that comment on my blog, but it seems like some people just like to play off that sense that people have

I like to comment on sites when I have enjoyed the post or found value in the content of the site. I also like to leave comments of encouragement for people who may have come to my blog site and who are now creating recycled crafts. I enjoy seeing other people's crafty ideas and generally leave some comment about their work or blog.

I comment only when I have something to say, I don't care about the traffic but it's nice when you get it

I only leave comments on posts where I have something to add, and so I make sure the comment is about the post itself, but if it's appropriate, I will sometimes mention my blog. I try to at least visit the blogs of anyone who comments on mine. If I get a comment that is obviously just trying to get traffic to their blog, and doesn't add any thing to the discussion, and is pointing to an unrelated blog, then I take it down. My blog has a very specific purpose and I work hard to make sure that the information there is relevant and useful. On my personal blog, I'm much less strict about the comments I get.

I always comment on the entry, not to promote my blog.

For me the post has to be engaging...I usually comment if I feel that the post did reach out to me...I don't mean touchy or anything...even if its fun...it should evoke some emotion in me. If it is just an innate post I will not comment...but if it is otherwise...then I definitely will encourage....

But Coming back to the Question - "How do You Comment?"
A: I comment using my keyboard...(Works fine for me!)

It is really, truly rare for me to mention my blog when I comment. And I don't just do it for the sake of saying *anything*.

The content on the site drives me, really. If I am moved or offended or feel I have something to contribute to an ongoing conversation, then I comment.

Otherwise, I visit, look around, and leave.

great perspectives, now how do you feel about those saying ty to your commnets? I usually do, even if it is just the words Thank you, but I hesitate, wondering if people will think its shameless promotion as opposed to good manners.

If a post makes me react in any way I try to comment as long as I have something to say. Sometimes it is difficult because I might enjoy a post and really can't add anything, but I hate leaving a comment that just says, "Hey that was a good post."

I disagree on comments (numbers) determining a good blog. Lots of people have tons of comments but not a lot to say. And lots of blogs don't lend themselves to others leaving comments.

I look for good writing and interesting perspectives. I avoid "look at this posts," stuff that only points to something on YouTube or in the news but doesn't add anything to them. I really enjoy posts that push boundaries and make me feel a bit uncomfortable, that's a good sign that I'm reading a different viewpoint than mine.
