LolitaV -- That's an approach I hadn't thought of. Risky, yet possibly fruitful.

In blogging content is king and marketing is queen. If you write high quality original content and promote it then the result may be an increase in organic traffic, or not. The reality is that you can have "killer content" but unless you promote it in the correct way and in the correct spheres a flood of traffic is not going to happen.

If it’s not easy to locate your content in search engines then there will be no increase in new traffic. Thus, what determines success is two things:
      * whether or not your content is found, and
      * whether or not the readers who do find it become subscribers.
That means you will have to develop some blogging skills in the area of learning how to apply basic SEO (search engine optimization) techniques to your posts and your blog. In addition you will have to join forums, online groups and enter blog carnivals that are specific to your niche. You will then have to form relationships with other bloggers in your niche by reading and commenting on their blogs.

I see that you have a restricted blog, presumably containing adult content. I'm not clear on which social networks will register blogs like yours but I do know that joining them is a means of creating organic traffic flow. Here is is a page that provides links to niche specific social media sites socialmediaanswers.com/niche-social-networking-sites/

The basic steps for all bloggers to take to establish and create a flow of organic (unpaid) traffic to thei blogs are found in this blog post, which contains internal links to "how-to" posts:

I beg like a big, whining baby. It sometimes works.

My "free candy tuesdays" promotion is doing pretty well for me
      1. timethief
Ah ha! I didn't know you had candy.
      2. FreakSmack
Oh, uhm... yeah, I don't actually have or "give away" candy. I just like the way "free candy tuesdays" rolls off the toungue.

First, I beg them to read it and to tell their friends to read it.

But I agree with everybody here who points out that quality content is a must. I focus on that first, knowing that nothing else will draw and hold readers. I also try to post no less than three times a week, often four and sometimes five. Frequency seems to help draw readers--not sure why. I know I don't like blogs that go 2-3 weeks without a post. I lose interest in them.

I've found tags or meta-tags are really important, too. Not too many--no more than 8--and they should say what the post is about. I quadrupled my readership in three days with the right tags about a month ago.

I also thinks it helps a lot to make yourself part of an online community and to be a productive, contributing member of that community, not just somebody who's trying to score readers. Be helpful and supportive. People get to know and respect you as a result, and Bingo!, you've got readers.

The ultimate benefit is that you find people you also enjoy reading. I've really had a lot of fun discovering other talented humor writers who bring a smile to my face. I hope they feel the same way.

      At gunpoint.

I rely on content and design.

Also, my traffic has doubled in the last week from a SLIDESHOW I put in my right sidebar. I can't believe it. Guess you never know.

After I spread the word that my blog contained secret ninja moves hacked from the FBI database, pretty much everything went up.

Good content and proper marketing of ur posts.

Getting people there is the trickiest-- particularly until the search engines kick in traffic.

Networking is really important-- connecting with other bloggers in your niche, and generating awareness that your blog is out there. Joining social media forums is extremely helpful in this way.

Then once you have 'em interested enough to visit your site, make sure you give them something they can find of value. Whether it's great information, a unique perspective or a laugh... whatever it is, keep your audience's needs in mind. Ultimately, it's about meeting the reader's needs whatever those needs are. That's what keeps them coming back.

It doesn't hurt to make it easy for them to subscribe, or follow, too.

If I can beg, I beg!
    • LolitaV
pfft you people have no shame with the begging! if you were a BIG, TRUE blogger like me, you wouldn't need to worry about traffic. Look at me and my blog, EVERY MONTH 5 people fight to the deaths to read my posts before gouging their eyes out! I am so important

This is the regular routine I go through when I post something on the BC blog:

send out a tweet about it from my account(which also gets posted on my facebook page)
send a different tweet about it from the BC twitter account
go to the BC facebook fan page and add the link
look up the subject I have written about and when I find other good posts about it, I leave a comment mentioning that I have written about the same subject on our blog (usually don't leave a link, but will sometimes if it seems others have and the author is OK with it)
Put up a discussion centered around the topic I wrote about

If you could get your Ex-wife to tell all her friends how your blog was full of lies, that could bring in a LOT of at least one-time visitors to it. Of course, I didn't know about that ahead of time.
    • R1VERT1LT
Just put your heart and soul into it and eventually you wont need to find people... They will find you.
    • amysteryartist
write a post and pray.......HARRRRRRRRRRD!!!!!! lol!
    • amysteryartist
on a serious note, just make sure you have great content, twitt it with a good title, and it should give you a kick start. I receive a large number of traffic via twitter I can tell you that! Humor aids a lot! try it. there are also other networking areas that you could explore such as facebook etc. We are presently on one of the best. Just keep at it, you may eventually enjoy the communication so much that you disregard the fact that your purpose was to drive traffic to your blog.
