For me nothing quite works like a quick carb cutout. I can drop 30 pounds in a couple of weeks like that. Not saying it's healthy, but in a pinch it works well.

Although I do have to agree with Tony LOL -
go to an all-you-can-eat buffett, in th south, on Sunday, right after church. sit at a table of southerners, who just got done praying at church for the starving people in third world countries, and watch them devour two weeks worth of calories inside of 90 minutes. You will be so digusted, that you will be READY to lose some weight.

My weight prob had nothing to do with overeating/fast foods or sweets/cakes etc. My weight problem was due to age,menopause, and a severely slowed metabolism (due to not eating enough and/or not eating at the right time, skipping brekkers and forgetting to eat lunch) and with the onset of a chronic back problem lack of exercise). I got my bod used to eating breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and then a small dinner , and volumizing with fruits and veggies (not diffcult coz I love them). I started gentle walking daily which has been very good for my back and my diet. So far I have lost 30lbs and while JC is not for everyone, it is helping me.
The most important thing for me was following a eating plan that helped boost my metabolism and an exercise program that I knew I could stick with permanently. -

Eat a balanced diet, drinks lots of water, exercise.
If you are hungry between meals, eat some fresh or dried fruit or nuts; eat lots of everything, nutritionists say that the more colourful your diet is, the healthier it is. Cut out junk food and replace it by healthier foods.

what has always helped me lose tons of weight is breastfeeding. Of couurse you can only do it now and than, not always ;-)

The time I lost the most weight was when I was pregnant, I lost over 25pounds! mind you I am not willing to try it again.

Weight is overemphasized.
Over the past year, through biking and yoga, I've lost a lot of fat, to the point that I've gone from an extra large t-shirt to a large, and need a belt to hold up pants that used to be too tight to wear. I'm probably in the best shape of my life.
And how much weight have I lost? None. In fact, I've gained ten pounds, all muscle..... -
Replace white rice with brown rice or pasta! Make sure you eat 100% wholemeal or wholegrain breads! No supper for 8-10weeks (no food at least 4 hours before you sleep)! Workout at least 3 times a week! Do more free weight trainings than cardio workouts! Eat 5-6 meals a day!

There is only one formula. Consume fewer calories than you burn. Eat less and burn some, or eat lots and burn more. either way, burn more than you eat, and you lose weight.

I do agree with the person above me, to an extent. Not only because of the holidays, but in colder weather, I find it much harder to lose weight, and I focus more on maintaining my weight. That is not to say you can't lose weight if you want to.
Everyone else had pretty much said it. You need to eat less food and exercise. Although it CAN be confusing because if you exercise a lot, sometimes you aren't eating enough food. Unless you are a fitness junkie though, I doubt that is the case.
Besides just eating less food though, you want to eat better quality food. This means whole foods, grains, nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables, etc, and not packaged and processes crap.

Don't do diets, just watch what I eat and exercise 3-5 times a week (cardio and strength training). I've got some info on my blog for any one who's interested in healthy eating, which is the best and only way to stay healthy and in good shape.

I have never had a weight problem. I have a slender body type. I eat properly and I exercise. I don't comfort myself with food so it's unlikely that I ever will have a weight problem.

Eat a balanced diet and exercise. By burning more calories than you take in, your body will burn excess fat for fuel. Balance your diet with a combination of protein, veggies, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats.
Drink plenty of water
Weight train / do cardio 3-5 days a week
I've also gone "extremely low carb" (The Palumbo Diet) and lost 20lbs. I don't recommend that particular diet to most people because, it's a pretty hardcore diet to follow. But, if you want to check it out, I'm sure you can find details about it on the Muscular Development forums. -

I have never been overweight and i never eat fat -free products, let me tell you why, It's easy!!! The hardest obstacles to loosing weight is lack of motivation, and support. You don't just want to loose it and then put it back on right, what you have to do is change the mindset. Trick your mind by turn the goal of loosing weight into a side-effect. Why? Let's face it the only way you are going get a killer body in a healthy way is through workouts and proper nutrition.
But working out and eating properly just for the sake of loosing weight is NOT FUN. That is why it's important to trick your mind and motivate yourself by thinking of some other more important goal, surround yourself with supportive people, workout buddies are a plus, make workouts fun (energizing music eg. house...), make them a habit, and its gonna be easier.
What do you think, can you try that for me, and let me know how it works out for you?
Bonus Tips:
No time for workouts?
1. While brushing your teeth, why not do some calf raises
2. when driving or stuck in trafic, why not cram in a few ab crunches?

sherliez< first of all loosing weight is a much hard job. you have to work really hard to achieve what you want.
1. have 6 meals a day. divide what you normally eat (a little less actually) into these 6 meals. eat to fulfill your hunger...not to fill your tummy. but remember to eat vegetables instead of fast food or beef and mutton.
2. exercise, atleast walk more than before.
3. if you are hungry inspite of having those 6 meals, chew a chewing gum...it helps.
4. ditch all fast foods.
5. no ice cream and chocolate from now on...
