I just wondered how the community here at Blogcatalog uses their blog to make some extra cash. Right now I'm using Adsense and Blogvertise to get some dollars. My blog has been up for about three weeks and so far I've only made 25 Bucks. Anyone wondering what Blogvertise is head on over to my post about it, it's actually pretty great. Great question Rohen, a lot of people are interested in finding out how to make money blogging. I earn money blogging with Adsense, Helium, Blogverise, Blogitive, PayU2Blog, PayPerPost, and Amazon and Roots Athletic Affiliate programs. So far so good! If you're searching for money making ideas check out Problogger.com, that's where I learned how to monetize my blog in the first place, Problogger is awesome!

Wow this is all great info. Thanks for the support kiltak. I'll take a look at some of the ideas mentioned here. It's great to create sites that make 1000+ per month, but the downside is that it could get boring if it's content you are not interested in writing about. It's great to achieve that nonetheless.

ok, I hear all these great things about making money on blogs, and I want to do that too, however, one question comes to mind.....that makes you self employed, so how do you find tax deductions? I guess with your hosting plan and what???

Okay here's the problem. I have a niche site -- however my keywords are targeted to my niche and not "high paying" keyword targets. I have plenty of traffic...Do I have to change my blog around to get any response from adsense or comission junction? Can a blogger expert please audit my blog, www.powerpopaholic.blogspot.com (aka take a look and tell me what's wrong here). My adsense total is a lone penny and I've been blogging for over a year now (even though it's only been monetized recently).

Just a suggestion: Try applying a template that isn't similar to Blogger's defaults. Maybe by changing the CSS around a bit and making it three column, along with the color, as most money making blogs are usually best fitted to use three columns plus it gives off a uniqueness as well. Also, remove the Navbar. A quick google search will provide you with the code you need. And, something that I am also in the process of doing is creating a favicon for my blog, which would be your logo. I checked your blog and you have great writing talent. Let me know how it works out.

How do you monetize your blog using BlogCatalog, JumpZee and MBL
I read the following at Squash.com when talking about MBL: "What I would like to see is tighter integration between blogs, forums, social networks, etc. so that conversation on a topic taking place anywhere can all be bought together no matter what the source of the opinion is.What I would like to see is tighter integration between blogs, forums, social networks, etc. so that conversation on a topic taking place anywhere can all be bought together no matter what the source of the opinion is."
How would a site like BlogCatalog accomplish this amazing vision?

BC, BumpZee and MBL are tools that help in driving traffic into your site. The traffic on my site jumped significantly since I started using them. I started the blog about 2 months back. For most of the time the Alexa ranking was nothing worth mentioning about. Its been a couple of weeks since I started using a combination of all 3 services. The traffic has surely increased due to them since I see a lot of referrals coming from these 3 sites. The Alexa ranking is about 163,000 right now and rising faster than I expected.
One of the things that I am clearly doing on my blog, is using a lot of different services so that I can report back how they perform. Obviously, what works for me or does not work for me, might not hold good with others. But, its worth sharing the experience.
You'll see affiliate links, advertisements from AuctionAds, Adbrite, and other similar services on the site right now. All of them are helping me make money. Try using Kontera for in-text advertisements. Its truly awesome and has been a great source of revenue for me.
Hope this helps... -
Right now, I use Adsense. I'm just enjoying the time posting and reading other blogs. I don't really intend to rely on my blog for income. I just feel that I can't devote too much time on blogging unless there is an interest on what I'm writing. Amazone ads and TextLinkAds are the programs I'd like to try soon.
-
i'd say $25 in three weeks is a good start. i've been at it about 6 weeks and haven't even cleared a dollar. Made 57cents on amazon and 36cents on helium. i'd be thrilled with $25!
-
Nothing abnormal there. If you're talking about Adsense, the first four weeks got me 89 cents and it stuck that way for another two weeks -- and I was getting okay traffic and the ads were pretty much on target.
Things much better now--I'm getting some clicks every day, though the amount is not as much as I'd have liked it to be ...lol. I guess the idea is to focus only on building keyword-rich content and traffic the first 4-6 months. -
Same here for me, I made $2.89 from AdSense in April and a compared to this massive amount of $5.20 from sponsoredreviews.com. Since, this was my first month I am OK with that. I see the traffic going up and subscribers doing the same.

I've been looking at this topic (internally) for days now!
I don't want to use any service that tells me what to blog about, because that ruins the whole fun of blogging and becomes a job. My adsense has netted me maybe almost 2 bills in the 3 years it's been up. Nothing really.
I'm actually doing an experiment on my site where I'm cashing in on old articles I wrote for older blogs I've since closed down and re-posting them on services such as Digital Journal and possibly Hub Pages. I would have used Associate Content, but I'm not American so that rules that out.
As for my actual blog, Blogvertise will undoubtedly make an appearance. Lots of tips here just in this thread. I am so glad I joined BC. The discussions alone are worth it. -
This is a great thread!! I've been reading and checking it out for a bit now. I gave up on Adsense pretty quick. My blog just doesn't get the clicks and neither did any of my websites. My blog is only about a month old and I try to do some affiliate stuff but I write because I love my subject and even tho I want to make money with it I don't want to dilute the subject matter just for the sake of $$. I am going to try to check out a couple of the blog advertisers mentioned here and see how it goes.

Does PayU2Blog work? (www.payu2blog.com/) It doesn't look all that reliable; the layout and everything....
-
if you see at my blog bunchofplayer.blogspot.com
i got lot of advertise..but i never got any cash from that..
sigh! i' about to quit about this...uhh-
No dude!!! Don't give up. I actually, sad to say, ignored my Blog for like two weeks because of other projects that I've been doing. I almost forgot about my blog, but I went ahead and did something unexpected with it.
A couple of days ago, I decided to get back on track, so I placed it on paid hosting and am now using wordpress. It's so much fun with wordpress, I have much more control of my Blog now. I will probably post once every 2-3 days. And eventhough that's not what most pro bloggers are doing, I can come up with much better and longer articles for everyone to read. From now on I'm just going to create great content. If I make money with it... great. If not, well then that's ok because my Blog has another use that I won't say here, WUAHAHAHA!
Anyways, some advice: re-arrange a bit. See what works and what doesn't. And of course, create great content. By the look of your blog, you have people commenting! Something that I haven't seen in a while. Oh well, back to the ol' drawing board as they say. ;P

I use Adsense as well. You might consider Adbrite... Currently though I use Direct Media Exchange. It's a service that manages your ad networks, it also has a few new networks you may not be aware of. Simply, they make the networks bid for your impressions so that you get the highest paying click through.

Call me old fashioned, but I am not "monitizing" my blogs. Can't bring myself to do it. I don't like to stay on sites with too many ads either. But, what can you expect from someone who doesn't read his junk snail mail and who prefers PBS on TV to anything else, precisely because of the lack of "buy me" noise. Okay, I could see maybe offering specific books I like, but I can't do that either, because it would not be cool to make money off my own students, no matter how much I need it. Maybe someday something will occur to me that I am comfortable with, but I'm not trying very hard to make that day happen.

I use Smorty and sponsoredreviews.com.. I've made $20 till now.. just started a month ago.. Wish me luck people and visit my blog at www.sriraminhell.blogspot.com

I've read a couple of treads over at Yaro Stark's Blog, an article about how he made 5000 and something odd dollars on March, I believe, and when it all comes down to it, it's all about what works best for your particular blog. I think, that an awesome replacement for Adsense (for those that think it looks "ugly") is Text Link Ads.

My company is looking to sponor ads on blogs. If you have 5k or more traffic a month email me at

Hi,
badmOOn is right. To earn a significant amount of money through Adsense you'll need massive niche sites or blogs out in the market. I highly recommend rebranded PLR products, affiliate marketing and adsystems related to it. I'm pretty sure everyone will find products 100% related to their blogs. I'm testing a new system and it's working well in the marketplace right now ... go to my blog and check it out - You'll see it right away ;-)

badm00n: 5000 Dollars is pretty good. I'm guessing you're using regular landing pages for your affiliate links? Or are these affiliate blogs your using?
BTW for everyone that's been using the top link to go to my Blog that has changed.
New Blog is www.vapaeso.info -
The focus really needs to be first on getting your traffic up. Once you got your traffic up, then figure out where ads belong on your site, properly, and how ads function in relation to your blogs.
If you have a lot of traffic, you feel cheated dealing with affiliates that get thousands of impressions from you for free literally and just pay out if someone buys something.
Focus on what the Cost Bid is of your advertiser and dont bother with someone who comes in bidding too low. -
I just posted a FREE special report by an extremely successful blogger on how he monitizes his site using his proven and tested strategies. He made over $10,000 last month by only 'working'(blogging) about 2 hours a day.
He shares his strategies and blueprint in his special report. You can get it for FREE here:>> www.santqiu.com
Enjoy it! -
